I don’t think we need to get rid of the second amendment. I think we just need to get the radical conservative judicial activists off the supreme court and restore the 200 years of precedent that required a tie to a militia to claim the right to bear arms.
....so before Heller, everyone who wasn't a member of a militia who owned a gun did so illegally? If so, shouldn't all of those guns have been confiscated and destroyed?

DonDiego suggests a quick reading of the Federalist Paper #46, . . . written by James Madison [note i.] and published in the New York Packet on Tuesday January 29, 1788, . . . argues persuasively for the individual right to keep and bear arms so that State Militia could be quickly organized to oppose unwarrentable measures of the Federal Government.
And that's over 200 year ago.

This is an excellent point to make to anyone who might argue to ban all guns and arms. Is that the debate our country is having right now?
To take an extremist perspecitve that there can be no restrictions on the 2nd Ammendment is akin to saying it should be ok to yell "Fire" in a crowded movie theatre.
The purist interpretations of the 2nd Ammendment are not held in regards to any other aspect of the Consitituion by the NRA zealots.... its a strawman argument to avoid having a rational conversation on how to make common sense changes. And thats why it is presented.

I know of no one who advocates "no restrictions" on the 2nd amendment. Not even the evil NRA.
The "common sense changes" you want are ALREADY laws. To claim that more is needed is turning a blind eye to the laws already on the books, unless you really want to abolish the 2nd amendment. Within the last week, Stevens and Larry King have both stated it needs to be abolished, so it is indeed part of the debate.
The latest strategy by right wing zealots is to mock survivors of the Parkland shooting incident and/or smear them with false rumors.

No, before Heller state and local jurisdictions were able to place reasonable restrictions on gun ownership.

The 5 kids that the left wing media has thrust into the spotlight are the definition of useful idiots, especially David Hogg. His F*** everyone who disagrees with him and his agenda (and it isn't just gun control) could be real problem for him. The media has overfed this punk's ego.
