I'm very comfortable with able bodied people who refuse to work starving.

Kevin argues that anyone but him should pay for the slackers.  Let's get America back to a country of expectations.

I advocate for free medical care for all. And if someone's hungry, Jesus Christ, feed them.

There is no "free" medical care - someone who works and pays taxes pays for the "free" medical care. Slackers should go to work, pay taxes and furnish their own medical care. If you are hungry, there are plenty of jobs available - just get off of your lazy ass and go to work. Some people don't realize this

And those who are unable to work should be allowed to die. Got it.

Oh, and their children, too.

I have a problem with trust fund brats sitting on a sailboat paying a lower tax rate than I do.    Just like every tax cut Republicans have  ever passed....the sailboat brats get lots of "free shit" from the government at the expense of our debt.

But here's a fun fact about Medicaid.   25 year old dudes in the prime of their life arent the ones using Medicaid .   How much money did you spend on healthcare in your 20's?     Did it even break a hundred dollars?   According to the sleazeball Republicans - that's the demographic that is blowing up Medicaid spending.   You can find about a hundred clips of them talking about bros in their parents basement playing video games instead of working. They were counting on their base to be ignorant enough to believe that's the target of their cuts    Boilerman  is proof they succeeded.

There's a reason the cuts don't go into effect until after the midterm elections.    They know who its really going to impact and they know it's going to be massively unpopular.     In the meantime Boilerman can enjoy the extra $20 he'll get on his paycheck....,and Don Jr will enjoy the extra 2 million he saves on his taxes this year.   Enjoy!

"If they'd rather die then they'd better do it."

Ebenezer Scrooze in A Christmas Carol, replying to men collecting to provide a Christmas meal for the poor in 19th century London.   Scrooge asks "Are there no prisons?  Are there no workhouses?"

Charles Dickens' novella "a work of social commentary" first published in 1843.  Dickens' family experienced debtors prison in his youth, thus his focus on the "underserved" in his writings [some would say 'undeserving'].

From then to now this is debated:  who, if anyone (and how much), should give of their own resources to help those who aren't self-sustaining for whatever reason.

Charity begins at home - America needs to focus on taking care of Americans, and not the rest of the world.

According to Kaiser family foundation 92% of the people on Medicaid are already working. So, I am not sure who Republicans think are going to go back to work?

The truth is they are lying again. They know the numbers, but since they are simply cutting a trillion dollars in healthcare the gutless eunuchs don't have the courage to say what they are doing.

I see Boiler has castrated himself too as he has decided to carry water for the MAGA liars.

The work requirement is designed to create barriers for enrolling and staying in the program. Again, because they don't have the balls to tell their MAGA constituents that they are cutting a trillion dollars from the largely MAGA healthcare program

In the rural area I live in, almost all the white  women quit their jobs when they get pregnant.

Why?

Eventhough, most of them have good factory jobs that pay 40k - 50k in a low cost of living area our private insurance in America is so shitty it is the only way they can afford to have kids. In my area you see a lot of very comfortably middle class young white parents doing this.

The procedure is: graduate high school, get a job, get engaged, get knocked up, quit work and go on baby Medicare. That way your child birth is completely free.  A lot of them even have kids one after the other so the government pays for both before they get married. Then after they are done having kids, they get married.

If they do it the old fashioned way it is: get married, have kids and as a young family quickly find themselves in 40k deep in medical debt that is aggressively collected . You see the average family private insurance policy (employer & marketplace) has a yearly family out of pocket of around 20k per year and the majority of pregnancies straddle two calendar years.

Obviously, this meets the definition of waste fraud and abuse as both parents are able bodied and the mom could retain her job along with her insurance.

Republicans didn't touch baby Medicare even though they know all of the above. Why?

Because they know their middle class and even upper middle class constituents are using it to have white babies and these folks likely wouldn't have a baby or as many babies as they would have if the government didn't pay for them. And Republicans currently have an obsession with people making more white babies.

The bottom line is they are rewarding those that are abusing the system while enacting draconian cuts to those that need it most. AKA the poor.

What an absolute load of crap - par for the course from Mark. --Currently, Medicaid lacks a work requirement for able-bodied adults. Because of Obamacare Medicaid expansion, the federal government pays states more to cover working-age, single men than it does for vulnerable pregnant women or individuals with disabilities.Jun 4, 2025 --

Again 92% of people on Medicaid already work. In that other 8% you have people on  baby Medicaid (no work requirement), people that are on Social Security Disability (no work requirement) and people living in nursing homes (no work requirement).

You are complaining about a problem that doesn't exist to justify cutting benefits from the working poor which includes a significant number of MAGA voters in red states.
