In Trump's Twisted Version Of America...

The Democrats are a very viable opposition; according to you guys thye are supposed to take over Congress in the fall.  Doesn't sound very dictatorial to me

No opposing political leaders have been arrested.  Arresting a few misbehaving college students is not supression

Name 1 industry taken over by the government, which is what fascists do;  nor is the economy planned by the govt.

Recent examples of facism according to the board's Fox News viewers:

- Democrats regulating soft drink sizes in New York City

- Democrats advocating net neutrality

- Obama issuuing executive orders

- MIchelle Obama advocationg healthy lunches in schools (Thank god for Sarah Palin and her sugar cookie!)

Not examples of facism according to the board's Fox News viewers

- Trump advocating violence against opposition at his mouthbreather rallies

- Trump calling for his political opponent to be locked up

- Trump undermining the credibility of all the instituions of our government - from the judiciary, to the FBI and CIA

- Trump's regualr attacks on the free press and his ability to brainwash his base into believing his alternative facts over the well reported ones in the pulitzer prize winning "Fake News".

Lol, the message seems to be gaining some strength.  Last week the ratings for Kenny and CNN were both lower than the food network AND hgtv.  Keep criticizing Fox News.....your views are being seen for what they are.

Definitions:

FASCISM:  a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.

SOCIALISM: any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods.

[both definitions from Merriam-Webster]

DonDiego respectfully suggests that the USA is not headed for either extreme in the immediate future.  So he recommends that one not get one's panties into a wad over every little thing one may disagree with.

Nonetheless, the natural tendency for Government and those within the Government is to expand the reach of the Government ever further into the citizens' daily lives.  Poor old DonDiego opines that the Founding Fathers wrote the Constitution with the clear purpose of restraining Government to those functions enumerated and allowing the Citizenry to attend to everything else.

Socialism and Facism both require a Government with more power.  So generally DonDiego prefers the Partry/Candidate which adheres more closely to the Constitution and leans toward less Government overall.

He recognizes that it is getting more difficult to determine that nowadays.

But it's still possible.

Tom said, "opposition suppression- not happening."

After Tom was provided numerous examples of opposition suppression, he says what is the big deal because Democrats are stilled allowed to run for Congress. Tom, even Boilerman would blush after seeing how far you moved the goalposts there.

Dissent is suppressed every day by Trump. Just today he attacked the media, the FBI and the EU. In addition, those weren't just college students that were put on trial.  Hundreds of nonstudents were put on trial for merely protesting Trump. They weren't misbehaving in any way because every one of them was found not guilty in a jury trial.

Tom, the red hats also see federal law enforcement as the opposition. There have been several stories over the last few days that outline a plot by congressional Republicans to impeach Rod Rosenstein so Trump can install a friendly Deputy AG that will fire Muller.  If that happens, we will be experiencing a full-blown coup.

And you want to talk about Democrats running for Congress? I take it you don't get any news from anything other than right-wing sources? Russia has already started interfering in the 2018 election to help Republicans. Now, Trump is meeting Putin without so much as an American translator present. Tom, do you think there's a possibility that they may be discussing Russia's plans for the 2018 election?

Tom still doesn't understand fascism or history.

According to Wikipedia, "When Adolf Hitler became Chancellor in 1933, he introduced policies aimed at improving the economy. The changes included privatization of state industries, autarky, and tariffs on imports."

Note the term privatization. It is the polar opposite of the nationalization you are claiming when you say government takeover.  If you are curious autarky means self-sufficient.  "Autarky exists whenever a country can survive or continue its activities without external assistance or international trade."  Sounds a lot like Trump's policies doesn't it? You know get rid of NATO, sees the EU as a "foe" and tries to destroy trade with our traditional trading partners like Canada, Mexico and Europe.

Rigging the game for the home team is part of the nationalism that goes along with fascism.

A thinking person would see Trump's association with the white nationalist movement and the scapegoating of brown immigrants and brown citizens as harbingers of fascism.  Trump is certainly acting like a dictator.  He believes the law doesn't apply to him and that the Justice Department should be there to serve as his personal attorney, not the nations.  He wishes that Americans were more like North Koreans in their reverence for their leader.  He has expressed an affinity for brutal dictators like Putin, Kim Jong Un and Rodrigo Duterte.
