"At the same time, because of complementarity, U.S.-born males with a comparable education level and who work in sectors reliant on immigrant labor, such as construction or agriculture, also dropped out of the workforce in greater numbers. In an average high-enforcement area, the number of U.S.-born male workers fell by 1,200, the authors found, coming out to approximately one job loss for every six likely undocumented workers who left the labor force.

“This is consistent with a model where undocumented immigrants and U.S.-born workers are complements, rather than substitutes for each other in the labor market,” the researchers said."

This is where tom comes in with national averages, if he hasn't completely left the forum, ignoring the targeted nature of the study. I would invite him to actually read the article before he posts unrelated articles, like an article about an immigrant killing someone.

  First of all, the job that ICE is performing is helping the economy as illegal, paid under the table immigrants are removed from the workforce making employers hire Americans to work and pay taxes - which is helping the economy. Illegals SHOULD fear ICE - they know they don't belong in the United States. The number of US born citizens - not just "males" -dropping out the workforce has nothing to do with ICE arresting and deporting illegals. The "one job loss for every six likely undocumented workers who left the labor force." has nothing to do with one another. The remark "undocumented immigrants and U.S.-born workers are complements, rather than substitutes for each other in the labor market," means what?  You have posted some really dumb things in the past but this moronic post is at the top of your dumb postings.

Of course Miller defends ICE. He hates brown people and licks Trump's balls. But let's take a brief look at the stupidity of supposedly helping the economy by reducing the workforce.

"Complements" are correlations. When we hound HORRIBUL ILLEGULS out of the country, jobs are lost. Miller is far too stupid to understand that.

   Jobs are not lost - they are still there for legal immigrants and citizens to fill - which is what happens.

If legal immigrants wanted those jobs, employers would hire them instead rather than taking the risks associated with hiring illegal immigrants. If you're caught employing illegal immigrants, you have to buy 1,000 Trump Bibles or ICE agents will burn down your house and rape your daughter(s).

I'll make the futile effort to explain this to you. Those FEELTHY ILLEGULS create jobs just by being here. They consume and pay for food, services, housing, etc. Those are mostly provided by local businesses. Therefore, they contribute to the local economy...and jobs.

I used to live quite close to the Mexican border and saw first-hand how many businesses depended on the migrant pooulation--legal or illegal.

So putting aside your race hatred and MAGA support for a moment, consider that people working in turn creates additional jobs. Can you consider that objectively?

I would support much more "lax" temporary worker admittance policies, because I live in an area that depends on seasonal migrant labor to get things done. The jobs they do are NOT being filled by natives or anyone else. Produce and fruit are rotting in the fields.

In any event, I believe the Fortune study, not you. You're not objective.
