PJStroh opines: "Its sad but not surprising DonDiego equates familes looking for better lives with "disease" and "people wishing to do harm".
[Why is it that PJStroh so often makes things so personal and insults his fellow posters ?]
Surprisingly, perhaps, DonDiego equates "families looking for better lives which apply for immigration in a lawful manner through the appropriate processes" as legitimate people of good will looking to better their lives and observe the laws of the country to which they seek to relocate.
[DonDiego trusts this explanation has alleviated PJStroh's sadness.]
Poor old DonDiego does not know any of the migrants contemplating illegal entry into the United States personally, . . . at least so far as he is aware. But he supposes these Guatemalan "migrants" are coming from a bad neighborhood, . . . as the US State Department Travel Advisory warns him:

Crime: The crime threat level in Guatemala is critical. The Embassy has no reason to believe that U.S. citizens are being specifically targeted, although criminals in Guatemala may assume that U.S. citizens and their relatives have more money than average Guatemalans.
- The number of violent crimes reported by U.S. citizens and other foreigners remains high and crimes occur even in areas of Guatemala City once considered safe, such as Zones 10, 14, 15, and 16.
- The Guatemalan border with Mexico (and in particular the northwestern corner of Petén) is a high-risk area due to large scale drug and alien smuggling.
- The border areas including the Sierra de Lacandon and Laguna del Tigre National Parks are among the most dangerous areas in Guatemala. The U.S. Embassy takes extra precautions when U.S. government personnel travel to the region.
- Reports of sexual assault remain high. Support for victims of sexual assault is lacking.Theft, armed robbery, and carjacking are the most common crimes against U.S. citizens who visit Guatemala, and travelers have experienced carjackings and armed robberies upon leaving the airport. Victims have been killed when they resisted an attack or refused to give up money or valuables.
- Pickpockets and purse-snatchers are prevalent in major cities and tourist sites, especially the central market and other parts of Zone 1 in Guatemala City. In a common scenario, an accomplice distracts the victim while an assailant slashes or simply steals a bag or backpack

And hey !
__ If these Migrants are seeking asylum from bad actors in the Country of Guatemala, why not just remain in Mexico, safely out of reach of their persecutors? Heckfire, they already speak the lingo.
__ Who's funding the migration of thousands of people across more than 2000km from Guatemala to the United States ? Perhaps churchgoers tithing through their parishes, . . . or perhaps a billionaire who does not have the best interests of the United States as his primary motivation?
__ DonDiego awaits the legal outcome of United States v Texas addressing executive actions by The Obama: The Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA) program and the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Luckily the Supreme Court has a full compliment of 9 members. Sometimes things just work out for the better.
