For all of Boilerman's bellyaching ABOUT Muslims he has a blank check policy towards helping them rebuild Iraq and Iran.    His vitriol towards them is reserved for the ones who live in America.

I'm both amused and appalled at how Christians hate Muslims. My mythology is better than yours! Kill kill kill blammo blammo! Unbelievers! Blasphemers! Infidels! Nogoodniks!

Since both mythologies are the exact same degree of bullshit, it's like two tribes at constant war, one that says the sun is green, and another that says the sun is purple.

Interesting.  You could just substitute Republicans and Democrats for Christians and Muslims, in regards to political stance, and it would be very similar.  Because both partie are full of the same bullshit....."my political stance is better than yours." 

Except, there is one significant difference. The core philosophies of the two parties are conservatism and liberalism, which when distilled to their essence, constitute a resistance to change and an embracing of it, respectively. I think that the latter is more in alignment with the human condition, while the former contradicts it. Progress is fundamental to human existence, and it doesn't happen without change.

There's a LOT of crap that would have stopped happening/been fixed long ago if conservatives hadn't been so fearful of change.

Yeah but both parties are willing to abandon their "core philosophy" if they think it's good for the party.

The Republican party started as an abolitionist party and thus quite "liberal".

The Democrats resisted civil rights and integration and thus were quite "conservative". Joe Biden was a segregationist and worked for Strom Thurman. 

Both major parties care more about maintaining power than anything else. They will take whatever position they think will keep them in power. 

I strongly suspect that the strings of both major parties are attached to the same puppeteers. 

I'm aware of the various shifting ideologies of the two parties. That's why I emphasized the core philosophies rather than the labels. Both conservatism and liberalism predate the two parties.

Presently, the Democrats are the liberal party. IMHO that means that they are on the fundamentally correct side. There are many things that are absolutely vital to our existence that liberals favor and conservatives abhor, such as environmental stewardship and affordable health care.

I've always asked myself, why should conservatives oppose those things? It's apparently because implementing them would entail change, and conservatives, by definition, fear and loathe that.

So when conservatives are in power, you have a government ruled by fear. And the rest of the world thunders past it. Now playing in a theater near you!
