Is Trump The Chosen One?

There was also a huge faction of people who legitimately believed Obama was the anti-Christ as foretold by Nostradumus and the Book of Revelation.     They called themselves the tea Party

Mark says "I think the distinction is that while a few of his fans referred to him that way Obama never referred to himself that way." ------- Obeyme might not have said that in public  but he sure acted that way by his actions and with his illegal "executive orders".

Trump IS the chosen one. He was chosen by our country's morons, bigots, and assholes, who due to a terrible flaw in our electoral system, wielded more power than America's decent and sane people.

Ha Ha Ha Ha ....

Utterly cogent and compelling argument, David. You clearly brought the full weight of your Trumper intellect to bear.

I find it difficult if not impossible to get down to your contemptuous level. MAGA.

That you find it difficult to understand what I'm saying--which I don't doubt for a minute--makes me pity you.

And by the way, look up "contemptuous." I think you'll find it doesn't mean what you think it means.

I did look it up and it describes you to a "T". The only one who needs pity here is you- and those who share your twisted logic. I also feel empthy for those others who have the misfortune of coming in contact with you.

Ah, so you didn't look it up. If you don't own a dictionary, there are several available online. But it's understandable that you prefer not to use such a resource--Trumpers HATE facts.

Since you appear to agree with Trump that he is "the chosen one," that's a quasi-religious belief and I won't try to talk you out of it. Your fawning worship of a demagogue isn't a particularly new thing, nor is your propensity to attack anyone who challenges your beliefs. Relax. I get it. I understand Trumpers.

Oh goodness ! ! !  This is, indeed, an unpleasant characterization of America's electorate.

DonDiego assumes the reference to the "flaw" pertains to the Electoral College.  If so, poor old DonDiego disagrees.

The reason that the Constitution calls for this extra layer [the Electoral College - DD], rather than just providing for the direct election of the president, is that most of the nation’s founders were actually rather afraid of democracy. James Madison worried about what he called “factions,” which he defined as groups of citizens who have a common interest in some proposal that would either violate the rights of other citizens or would harm the nation as a whole. Madison’s fear – which Alexis de Tocqueville later dubbed “the tyranny of the majority” – was that a faction could grow to encompass more than 50 percent of the population, at which point it could “sacrifice to its ruling passion or interest both the public good and the rights of other citizens.” Madison has a solution for tyranny of the majority: “A republic, by which I mean a government in which the scheme of representation takes place, opens a different prospect, and promises the cure for which we are seeking.”

Unbeknownst to the Founding Fathers, . . . the 21st Century has demonstrated the wisdom of the authors of the Constitution.

"For several years the Mercatus Center at George Mason University has ranked States based on five measures of their financial condition: cash solvency, budget solvency, the ability to meet long-teerm spending commitments, state spending and taxes as a share of personal income, and unfunded pension liabilities and debt."

The 2006-through-2016 results:

Best-Managed States

 1. South Dakota

 2. Tennessee

 3. Nebraska

 4. Florida

 5. Utah

 6. Alaska

 7. Oklahoma

 8. Wyoming

 9. New Hampshire

10. Montana

Worst-Managed States

 1. Illinois

 2. California

 3. Massachusetts

 4. New Jersey

 5. Kentucky

 6. Connecticut

 7. Hawaii

 8. NewMexico

 9. New York

10. Rhode Island

Overall, the well-run States are less-populated - e.g. SD, TN, NE.  And the worst-run States are more-populated - e.g. IL, CA, MA.

The observant reader may also note that among the "Best-Managed" only New-Hampshire is considered a Democrat State.  And among the "Worst-Managed" only Kentucky is considered a Republican State.

Poor old DonDiego opines States like Illinois, California, and Massachusetts have, indeed, succumbed to rule by a harmful faction, . . . just as the Founding Fathers feared.

Ahh, . . . but at least the Governing Faction in California knows what is important: California Priorities
