I agree the executive branch has usurped a lot of power over time. The violations have increased exponentially in recent years. The legislature can and should put an end to this and reclaim be power they have delegated over the years.
The trouble is that unless enough Republicans defect to pass any bill limiting Presidential power...and THEN enough MORE Republicans defect to override the Turd's inevitable veto...no way is this ever happening. And I hasten to add that the same thing would happen if Republicans sponsored a similar bill while a Democratic President is in office.
The only remedy, unfortunately, is a Constitutional convention, wherein we would be able to fix all the flaws and anachronisms once and for all...such as blowing up the Electoral College. We should certainly remove Presidential immunity to criminal prosecution or punishment. The checks on executive power have to be strengthened.
But there's no way on God's green earth we would ever have that. The red states would say no *honk* no *honk* no.
