It's the economy, Stupid.

Since PJ is a deficit hawk, he not only would have voted against the budget, but would have offered to cut spending

What story will you tell when the next Presidential election comes around and the economy is still strong? I am sure you will find some type of justification for being wrong...

I am highly confident that Trump's  tax cuts won't pay for themselves, and that they will create economic destruction in some form.  I recall people on this very forum saying to be patient and to give Bush's tax cuts time to work. They will pay for themselves. I can't recall one of the cheer girls apologizing for being wrong.

President Bush's tax cuts worked as planned, as tax revenues went up.  The problem was that congress went crazy & spending went up at a faster rate.

"The non-partisan Congressional Research Service has estimated the 10-year revenue loss from extending the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts beyond 2010 at $2.9 trillion, with an additional $606 billion in debt service costs (interest), for a combined total of $3.5 trillion."

But then again.....food stamps.

From 2002 to 2008 revenue increased by 14%.  Spending increased 47%

We have a spending problem; not a revenue problem

And Liberals complain that the problem is a military spending problem.  Anyone who's eaten a pie can judge by the charts from 1970 to the charts from 2018 how small the military piece of the pie is, and how large the giveaway portion of the pie has become.  Let's not concern ourselves with the truth, however.

The Non-Partisan Congressional Research Service disagrees with your coclusion about tax cuts.   But you are right about spending.   Republicans spend without paying for it - Iraq War, Medicare Part D, and now everything Trump outlined.    You can agree or disagree about the ideology behind Obamacare - but you cant argue that it wasn't paid for.  It was.   And thats the real difference between Democrats and Republicans when it comes to budgetary issues.   Democrats are honest about math.

Oh - here's your chart.....

The best thing about the above chart is it shows how Obama really restrained spending more than any of his predecessors.  You would not know that to be true by listening to our resident conservativres on this board who are currently mum about Trump picking up where Bush left off

What??? Democrats are honest about math - are you kidding?
