JD Vance at the convention

I dont know if you heard JD Vance's speech at the convention - but the economic parts of it sounded like they were ripped right out of the pages of Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren's playbook.

Workers first.   No more catering to Wall Street and corporate elitists..    Pro-Union.

And the best part is he was met with cheers from the crowd instead of a chorus of morons reflexively shouting "Venezuela" or "Class Warfare"   or "punishing people for their success".

Now was that just fodder?  Or is the Republican Party starting to question its allegiance to Laizze-Faire capitalism?   Lets hope its the latter - that would be a postive development.

He's telling the people what THEY want to hear.  Now, whether it's what he truly believes is another thing.  We'll see.

First of all, Vance's ideology includes ending Social Security, removing Medicare and Medicaid, and in general cutting back drastically on entitlement programs. So his "workers first" nonsense is all shouting and no substance.

Is he against the renewal of the Trump tax cuts that have caused the huge deficits that hurt American workers so badly? No. Is he for the proposed Biden 15% extra tax on billionaires?  No. Is he against Trump's plans for massive deregulation of corporate America? No. Is he against so-called "right to work"? No.

So to answer your question, yes, it was just fodder...meant to possibly attract some centrists and people on the fence. The fact of the matter is that many of Trump's proposed policies, such as massive tariffs, will crush the economy and hurt workers more than anyone else. But Vance has never directly told the Turd that he disagreed with him, and he's not about to do so now.

As far as the crowd's reaction--you don't really think that any of them had the mental faculties to actually process and understand what Vance was saying, do you? They would have cheered and danced and masturbated if it had been Ted Cruz up there reciting Dr. Seuss.

Well, aside from his sincerity or lack thereof, he's going to be the most powerless vice President since Mike Pence. Trump will demand from him what he demands from all his lackeys--absolute loyalty and obedience. Vance will be a wad of wet Kleenex. He might chafe at that, but he's smart enough to know that this gig just might be his back door to the Presidency. So he'll smile and spread his legs.
