The Kenosha Killer Kid may get off

Today's testimony did not go well, and to make things worse, the judge was actively hostile to the prosecutor and called him a liar. The judge may be RepubliQ and/or a gun nut.

The witnesses for the prosecution were, um, not great, and the Kid seemed to be fairly composed on the stand (though taking the stand at all was a dumb move). Even though it's a complete crock of shit, the Kid's "self-defense" bullcrap just might fly. There's enough ambiguity in what happened to make that remotely plausible.

Of course, "self-defense" doesn't include loading up your semiautomatic rifle and driving north for an hour to kill Black protestors. But I have this creeping feeling that there's going to be at least one or two racist gun-loving jurors who see the Kid's murderous trip and rampage as something noble.

I expect him to be convicted on one or two lesser charges, serve a year or so, and then return to his hometown to be present at the dedication of his gold-plated statue. Gun love! Racism! Ain't America great?

(P.S. I know the ones the Kid murdered were white, but the purpose of his trip was to kill Black people.)

I don't understand what the kid was doing up there with an AR-15.  Makes no sense to me.

The judge is in a Democrat controlled county and was appointed by a Democrat - so can we please remove the political jabs?

How exactly do you know he went up there to kill Black people?

The prosecutor was out of line multiple times and deserved the admonishment he recieved from the judge.

Since he lacked any formal training in law enforcement, public safety, or the use of his big manly man GUN, and since he wasn't "protecting" or "guarding" fuck-all when he shot those three people, it's obvious that he didn't go there to act as a noble guardian of the peace. He got fed the same old lies that we heard all last year, that the inherently violent and savage Black people were destroying the city. (I didn't know before today that he had some tenuous ties to Kenosha; I thought that he was just there to take advantage of the chaos and have some gun fun.) So he said to himself, "I'se gonna kill me some n*****s."

This is nothing but a political issue, so politics is inseparable from it. A teenager watches Fox News and grabs an automatic weapon, hops in his car, drives across a state line, and shoots three people. What got him all ginned up? The constant racist rhetoric about "the Black rioters." And what political organization runs on racism, the way a car runs on gasoline? The Republican party.

I don't know the minutae of the legal issues at stake, but it sure seems that the judge is favoring one side. Perhaps he's actually impartial. We'll see. At least, the judge won't be the one who renders the verdict; but like I said, at least one juror will swallow the self-defense bullshit. The judge shouldn't even be allowing that defense, as it's ludicrous that anyone grabs an automatic weapon, jumps in a car, and drives 60 miles to defend himself.

Wow.  The vitriol.  You seriously need help.

From what I saw, he did a good job on the stand. I think it paid off for the defense having him testify. You know the old saying dead men tell no tales. He can get away characterizing his dead victims behavior in a way that benefits him because they aren't around to contest his version of events.

As far as the judge being a Democrat,  I think that ship has sailed. His phone went off in court yesterday and the ringtone was Proud to be a MAGA. In his defense, the prosecution made a horrible mistake trying to sneak in evidence the judge had already ruled was inadmissible.

Kevin must be talking about when the prosecutor suggested that the kid must be guilty because he chose not to speak to police, invoking his Constitutional rights.  Kevin has made it clear once again that he believes that the Constitution should protect only Liberals with liberal ideas and liberal actions.

The purpose of the trip was to protect the vehicles on a used car lot.  While doing so, the crazy people that Kevin supports attempted to hurt this boy.  One guy who the kid shot, even admitted to pointed a gun at the kid prior to being shot.

Good people should not be expected to allow crooks to damage their goods, homes, and bodies.

The problem is he wasn't defending his home or property. Generally, it is a lot harder to claim self-defense if you go looking for trouble and find it.

He may get off ...and there is validity in part to his self defense claim.    MAybe.   It worked for George Zimmerman.

but this kid Is a bonafide psycho.     People who kill even in self defense don't celebrate taking human life.    He went out drinking and doing photo ops  with the proud boys as soon as he was bailed out.   And for some reason that flagrant celebration and lack of remorse is not admissible in court.

The sickening thing is right wing pundits and members of congress are celebrating this psycho as their new hero.

Those weren't his vehicles. You don't have the right to use lethal force to protect something that doesn't belong to you. Of course, the dumbass kid wasn't there to "protect" anything. He was there to have gun fun.

Good people should be expected to stay away from volatile situations rather than driving 60 miles to escalate them. "This boy" did the opposite. He picked up his assault rifle and went looking for mayhem. I realize that this makes him a hero in Boiler's eyes, because the mayhem he intended was for the Black protestors. Then he got tangled up with, according to him, other crazies and shot them all.

What a noble hero. Of course, his actions were perfectly legal and he should receive the key to the city.

Yeah, gol durn it, I object to some teenager being seized by an attack of gun love and racism and speeding across a state border to kill Black people. My stance could be called "vitriol" by someone who approves of the kid's actions.

If you don't object to those actions, well...you critically need help.
