I have a huge problem with the ecological damage--the gigantic fish kills and the wiping out of microorganisms that marine life depends on. The oil leak sterilized over 20 percent of the Gulf.
A dozen people were killed and many more injured. They're still dead, even if the fishing is better now. So I'm sure their relatives have a problem with that.
The economic damage to the region was fifty times whatever costs BP incurred in actually cleaning up their shit. I have a problem with that.
BP did nothing to make the beaches cleaner than they were before the spill. They also did nothing to improve the fishery, which scientists said wouldn't recover for a generation.
It was a disaster. Period.
