laughlin

The report I read was from some time ago, and the situation is different now in that the Laughlin casinos used to let everyone "dry camp" in their RVs in the parking lots--I remember counting over 200 of them in the Colorado Belle parking lot (which is huge) alone. That seems to have stopped.

However, my casual observations indicate that if anything, the people shuffling up and down the street are older than they were back then. It's definitely a major destination for all the retired folks in Arizona, especially those who live right across the river in Bullhead City.

thanks  i walk all the time so hope to get to aquarius to vp.  looked at vpfree2 and harrah's is the worst.  i might even spend some money and stay at aquarius a night or two.  i haven't shared a room in years.  i'll bring the average down...i'm 65

The following quote "tighter VP and slots."  raises the question for me, are some VP machines tighter or not as tight as other VP machines.  I thought the odds were all the same, the only difference were the pay tables?

When I say tighter VP, yes, I'm referring to less generous paytables; for slots, I'm referring to a higher house hold (lower overall payback).

You can tell if VP has been tightened by looking at the available paytables. You can't tell that directly by looking at a slot machine, but you can get the figures for overall slot payback. That payback has been steadily declining, meaning that the Laughlin casinos are setting their slots to lower payback percentages than they used to.

Fiscal year 2017-2018, Laughlin payback percentages:

Denomination Payback %
1¢ Slots 89.24
5¢ Slots 92.86
25¢ Slots 93.83
$1 Slots 94.30
$1 Megabucks 88.67
$5 Slots 94.57
All Slots 92.21

Yes Kevin, you are right about Laughlin being an older community, and I for one kind of like it that way. A little slower pace than the strip or downtown Vegas. We usually stay at Harrhas for the free room, but the wife and I like to take a taxi down to Riverside or the Aquarius and then walk along the river to the other casinos before getting another taxi back to the hotel. We like the Boilerroom restaurant in the Colorado Belle I believe, to have a little snack before heading back. We've also found the River Palms a very nice casino as well.

back from laughlin.  after arriving and the first five hours I did not like it.

next day I took another look and it was not bad.  I stayed at Harrahs.

Quieter crowd, staff very nice, VP better at some machines, Range good.

BUT there is nothing to do in Laughlin.  I was lucky that I golfed two days and that

killed six hours each day.  took the river shuttle to Aquarius which I recommend highly.

best VP on the "strip" and their buffet was very good.

walked the 1.5 miles back to harrahs with a couple casinos in between and a bar

where they were giving free line dance lessons.

Bullhead City International airport is a hoot.
