David, remember, he's the guy who called himself a "stable genius," boasted about his TV ratings while Americans were dying, and engaged in all form of public praiseturbation. But as you said, if he did the right thing, "Even some of his strongest supporters would have turned on him."

So he failed to do the right thing for America, according to you and me. And Americans died as a result.

David helpfully pointed out that if Donald Trump had done the right thing about the virus months ago he might have become a lot less popular, even with his own followers. So he chickened out.

Here, let me show you how it's done with one president as an example:

Harry Truman ordered the military services desegregated. Very unpopular, but the right thing for America.

Harry Truman fired the proto-fascist General Douglas MacArthur. Very unpopular, but the right thing for America.

Harry Truman announced that his national medical insurance program would prohibit hospitals from practicing segregation. Very unpopular in the South, which was a critical Democratic Party constituency back then.

If President Harry Truman had run for president in 1952 he might not have even won the Democratic nomination. He chose to retire. But over and over again, he did the right thing for America.

Leadership matters.

Being in the present matters.

Well yeah. Ignore history. Ignore expertise. Ignore evidence.
