The insanity of the left on display, again. -- As wildfires ravage California, some on the left have resurrected an old strategy: blaming Donald Trump. Prominent liberal voices, including The Bulwark’s Sam Stein, claim that Trump’s past rhetoric against California’s wildfire management has worsened the current crisis. Stein tweeted, “Trump, set to take office in 13 days, has threatened publicly to cut wildfire aid to the state,” tying the former president to the disaster. Trump’s remarks, however, date back years and highlight concerns over California’s refusal to adopt basic fire-prevention strategies. In 2019, Trump criticized the state’s forest management, stating, “Billions of dollars are sent to California for forest fires that, with proper forest management, would never happen. Unless they get their act together … no more money.” -- Critics of the left’s narrative point to broader systemic issues. During Trump’s October 2024 appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast, he emphasized California’s refusal to invest in water reservoirs and proper forest clearing, measures that could mitigate the risk of wildfires. Meanwhile, local leadership has faced scrutiny. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, who was out of the country as fires raged, had previously slashed $20 million from the city’s firefighting budget. LA Fire Chief Kristin Crowley has also prioritized diversity and inclusion efforts over operational readiness. Despite these facts, liberals like Stein and others on social media have targeted Trump. This narrative, while politically convenient, diverts attention from the failures of California’s Democratic leadership to address chronic wildfire mismanagement. - https://mxmnews.com/article/e924c730-774e-4afb-a263-23ab6c1a6550
