There were 19 good guys with guns waiting outside the school where that guy killed all the kids for 45 minutes. They decided not to enter the classroom because even with the same type of guns and body armor they deemed it too risky and didn't want to risk themselves.
I do understand the good guys with guns were successful in subduing the parents that got tired of waiting for the good guys with guns to charge in.

Kind of blows up the "give everybody a gun and we'll all be safe" argument, doesn't it? Guns are useless unless they're carried by people who know how and when to use them (and when not to). These cowboy yahoos evidently didn't.
Sitting outside while kids are being shot and killed one by one is the ultimate act of cowardice. Yee fucking haw.
