Let's vote! Two threads started per day limit

I think this would be best for all. This issue was brought up by Miller's starting 10+ threads every day in an attempt to dominate the Sink; the rest of us complained, and Anthony spanked him. Miller was barred from starting new threads for two weeks, but since then, he's been gradually inching upwards...two ..three...sometimes four or five in one day. He's obviously testing the waters to see to what extent he can return to his old self.

So I think we should vote on 1) whether there should be a binding thread-start limitation 2) if so, what that number should be. Edso and others have proposed two. That would be a thread start limitation, not an overall posting limitation.

I think this would make the Sink more enjoyable and might stop people from being repulsed when they bring up the Sink and see nothing but Miller Miller Miller Miller Miller political screeds complaining about this or that.

Miller of course doesn't want to be deprived of his personal soapbox; Tom will of course support his fellow Trump-kisser, but their votes will count. I want to know what others think.

To repeat, I'm not in favor of any restrictions on postings in threads that already exist. This is to make the home page more welcoming.

Yes as long as it applies to everyone, Kevin included.

I don't know why you would say that, because 1) duh, 2) I only start one or two threads a day, 3) I made no statement and gave no indication that the rule wouldn't apply to me.

I don't like the implication you're making, as it's kind of insulting to say that I would propose a rule and not abide by it myself, but thanks for responding with your vote.

If a limit is implemented I think it should be per sub-forum. Not whole forum.

If one starts two or three threads in the sink they should still be able to start threads in the other sub-forums that day.

Also if it were up to me then ad hominem attacks and other insulting remarks would be banned as well.

I agree with this.

I vote that the thread starting limit for each sub section of the Forum should be capped at two. There is no limit to the amount of posts a person makes in an existing thread, so this can keep productive and lively discussion going in the various sub forums and threads.

I apologize if you took that as an insult. You and Miller dominate the forum so it seemed reasonable to include you in my response. I enjoy good spirited conversations, keep up the good work.

Notice there is no limit to pure posting.  That would crush Kevin to have that instituted.

What's a sub-forum? The Sink is a forum, and I'm not proposing any rule for any other forum.

If ad hominem attacks were prohibited, 9/10ths of David's posts would be against the rules. He SO enjoys calling people liars, delusional, obtuse, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. Let's let him have his fun.

Are you incapable of answering a simple question? Are you incapable of omitting a personal insult?

I really don't get Asshole Jerry. Most of the time, you make sensible posts. But you can't seem to control your alter ego.

Sub Topics is a better term.....Gambling, Trip Reports, Dining, etc.  Of which the Forum is one.....a sub topic of the Forum Page.
