It is rather unfortunate that some can't have political discussions without resulting to insults and personal attacks.

Civil discourse is a dying art.

I consider Miller's constant posting of idiot rando Fakebook MAGA propaganda to be extremely uncivil.

How do you feel about it?

Then which forum would you and Miller choose to infest? Remember, there might be rules there!

Good point, Tom.   Agree to disagree without the insults.

If Miller would stop it, so would I. If Tom would stop it, so would I.

I think it's kind of rich for people to be bitching about the language I use while giving Miller and Tom a free pass.

I'd hold to whatever rules the majority of Sink participants want as long as others did so as well. As I've said, I've tried that several times, and it was never very long before Miller, Tom, or one of the other Trump-slaves resumed their nastiness.

But I do generally agree that the Sink is a nasty place. However, I don't think so because of the language. I think so because of all the horrid, slobbering fealty to the Turd and the constant "justification" for his awful actions.

I consider David and Tom's saying "I love our orange master and want to have his baby" to be MUCH more obscene than "Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck."

Kevin!!!!  Try to think outside your own mind for a minute.

Tom nailed it.

You agreed, a few posts back, that a straw vote revealed most of us who visit Kitchen Sink aren't as bothered by the number of posts initiated by David Miller or anyone else, but are bothered by the degree of insults directed at others...and the piling on and on and on in a thread.

Agree to disagree without the insults.   Ideas, not insults.

I think that some of his posts violate what I would refer to as the rules of rational argumentation and/or civil discourse and some don't.

I would also add that no matter how uncivil or nasty I found the post of any individual to be it never inspired me to attempt to meet or exceed what I perceive as their crude behavior.

That doesn't seem to me like the most productive way to confront bad behavior or to dispute bad ideas.

Honestly the "they do it so I am doing it too" or "I won't stop unless they stop" attitude is not one that I quite understand.

To paraphrase Gandhi. "Be the change you want in the forum"

First of all, I can't think "outside of my own mind." Pretty much by definition. And neither can anyone else, unless they have mastered the Vulcan mind-meld or equivalent technology.

You seem to have, er, selective criteria. Why have you never admonished David for his incessantly nasty and insulting behavior? You've been nothing but polite to him, but he's pissed on you several times for the horrible crime of expressing disagreement with him. I remember him recently calling you "foolish," "ignorant," and even "delusional."

You scold me for saying "fuck" but don't scold David for saying "GFY,":even though that acronym means the same thing.

I can only conclude that your bias results from my continued criticism of religion and the horrible effect it has had on humanity. I'm quite used to that backlash. You're a believer, and nothing makes people angrier than even a whiff of a suggestion that their beliefs are invalid. Just like it makes David madder than a wet hen to challenge his belief in Trump.

You of course have every right to express your views, opinions, and beliefs.

I feel that people who are discourteous don't deserve courtesy. People who are assholes deserve assholery in return.

I applaud your noble sentiment, but I can't help but observe that despite your unfailing politeness toward Miller, he's pissed on you several times. It's true that he treats you better, overall, than he does anyone else.

I also don't feel that I or anyone else should be polite toward MAGA, any more than anyone should be polite to a former Nazi concentration camp guard.

I'm in for that but what would Kevin and David do all day?

I would post on other forums, observing the rules thereof. David would try to bring his rando Fakebook propaganda to the other forums and start calling everyone there liars and delusional, until Anthony spanked him again, at which point his head would explode.

I don't read every post by David or by anybody.  Depending on whether a topic is of interest I may not click on one at all, or I may not continue on in one.

If David was nasty to me I may not have read it.  If he disagreed with me on something I don't consider that being nasty in and of itself.  I don't recall him directing foul language at me ever.
