Numbers can neither tell the truth nor lie. A lie is an intelligent act by a sentient being. Numbers are neither intelligent nor sentient.
Your ignorance of what a lie is may partially explain your penchant for calling everyone else liars.
There is absolutely nothing intelligent about a lie. You've got to be stupid or mentally ill to lie. It ain't so easy to keep track of the lies which is why it's stupid. You, above all others that post here, would know about lying. Now, which are you, stupid or mentally ill?

It takes intelligence to utter a lie. The lie itself does not display intelligence.
My third graders easily grasped the distinction.

These six words: "a lie is an intelligent act" sums up your philosophy on life as succinctly as possible. If this were actually true, which it isn't, you'd be the brightest individual on the planet. You might want to consider using those six words for your epitaph.

I KNEW you wouldn't be able to understand that simple statement. Intelligent act, as in, an act that takes intelligence to perform.
I didn't mean intelligent (me) as opposed to stupid (you and your kind).

Is calling lies an intelligent act your way of propping up your self-esteem since you lie so prolifically? The only intelligent aspect that might be associated with the telling of lies is the ability of the liar to keep them straight and believable. How is that working out for you o' teller of tales?

You're confusing two similar words. "Intelligence" is the ability to think and reason. "Intelligent" means "having superior cognitive abilities."
Therefore--and hold your breath here, this is going over your head-- it takes intelligence to tell a lie, because a lie is DELIBERATE. In order to be telling a lie, one must know that one's statement is false AND intend to deceive the recipient.
Because David doesn't understand this distinction, he characterizes any statement he disagrees with as a lie. I doubt you get it, either, but you deserve a chance to demonstrate that you do.
So to recap-- a lie requires intelligence: cognition; the ability to think; the ability to anticipate and interpret others' reactions. Is a lie in and of itself an intelligent act? Not necessarily.
Why am I explaining nuclear physics to a chimp?

Yep! Exactly! Good job! So please explain how a number can lie.
