Spokane, WA is the de facto capital of the Inland Northwest, a region that includes eastern WA, northern ID, and northwestern Montana. Residents of Coeur D'Alene, Sandpoint, etc. do much of their shopping in Spokane, because prices are lower and ID charges 6% sales tax on food (in, er, accordance with the conservative no-taxes mindset).
Northern Idaho has always been where the crazies hang out. They retreat to the woods, build fenced enclosures, and play with their GUNZ. Plus, there's the more garden-variety crazy of the citizenry being avidly pro-Trump and almost 85% RepubliQ. And did I mention the GUNZ? Parents routinely teach their seven- and eight-year-olds to fire rifles; there are classes, in fact.
So that conservative FREEDUMB ethic has, of course, led to no-masking and no-vaxxing, with strong support for that attitude from the governor. So, naturally, they're experiencing a huge wave of infections and deaths. And since Idaho doesn't believe in health care, their inadequate facilities have been overwhelmed. So where have the covid patients been taken? Spokane. Who's paying for their care? The state of Washington.
Conservatives should be grateful that we liberals are standing ready to pay the cost of their folly. FREEDUMB is great as long as somebody else picks up the tab.
