Lookie, A Federal Claim That Trump Evaded Taxes And Defrauded A Foreign Government.

The owners of a luxury hotel in Panama City that ousted the Trump Organization as property managers last year accused it on Monday of evading taxes in Panama and creating a “false light” around the hotel’s finances.

The accusations, made in a legal filing in Manhattan federal court, are fraught with potential diplomatic and legal complexities for President Trump.

The president’s company, the filing alleges, “also made fraudulent and false claims to the Panamanian tax authorities” to “cover up its unlawful activities.” This was originally detected during an audit last year by that country’s tax agency, according to the filing.

The filing also alleges, among other claims, that the Trump Organization understated employee salaries in reports to the Panamanian social security agency, which may have reduced the hotel’s social security tax payments. Collectively, the company’s actions made “the financial and operational performance of the hotel appear in a false light,” the filing says.

Mark once again misrepresents.  The title of this thread implies that the Feds filed the case; instead this is just a business dispute.

Tom, you better get busy writing all of those dictionaries and thesauruses trying to get them to revise their definition of the word to comport with yours.  I do see a trend here though. Rather than a debate on the merits of any given topic conservatives here are trying to play wordsmith. You know like trying to define the free press as Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, Rush Limbaugh, Lou Dobbs, Laura Ingraham and a few other conservative media personalities.

Mark, I think as you said some time ago, "It's about the economy, stupid."

Is Mark suggesting that Hannity, Carlson, Limbaugh, Dogs, Ingraham and other conservative voices are NOT the free press?  Or is the Holy Grail of free press only found at the ratings challenged outlets of cnn, nbc, cbs, msnbc and abc?

Yes, that is excatly what I am suggesting. Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O'donnell and Chris Matthews aren't part of the press either because they are opinion personalities. Trump doesn't get the difference between hard news and opinion. It sounds like you don't either.  Reporters/journalists report the news and opinion personalities comment on the news giving their take on it. Members of the press are subject to fact-checking by their superiors and a code of ethics in how they report the news but opinion personalities are not. Generally, opinion personalities are not subject or slander or libel claims because they are giving their opinion not stating facts. If a hard news person intentionally misstates a fact about someone that casts them in a negative light, they can be sued for slander or libel.

Facts and opinions - whenever either or both are out and out lies, then they are fake news.

Google Rachel Maddow, and this is the top link (MSNBC and Rachel believe she is reporting the news):

MSNBC just like Fox News has hard news people. It isn't a diffcult concept to understand.
