Your past always follows you, like it or not. Anything you say, especially anything you write down can come back to bite you in some way, fair or unfair.

That's beyond disgusting. It's now illegal to criticize the fucking Turd.
I've lived all over the US, and visited every state, and the most rabidly, awfully, repellent MAGA place I've ever encountered is Colorado Springs. A right-wing extremist encampment of retired flag-wavers. And the worst part is--the area is so gorgeous! You pretty much have to pass through Colorado Springs to get to the mountains. Roll up your windows and drive fast--the stench is overpowering!
When I lived in Durango, I awarded the Most Rabidly Conservative Place in America trophy to Grand Junction. But even they weren't as batshit crazy as Colorado Springs.

Well, Jesus Christ, should we all be fearful of saying or writing anything that in the future, some fascist asshole or gang thereof may find objectionable and "cancel" us?
And of course, if the Turd stays in power, or something equally horrid takes his place, said "cancellation" won't be limited to speaking engagements. People who criticize the regime will be hauled away.
I kinda preferred the old America, with that silly old freedom of speech nonsense. But that's dying now.
I said fair or unfair, Kevin.
She's high profile, represents a state University.
She exercised free speech last February (in an alternative newspaper).
The Air Force Academy said it was "Disparaging of the Commander- in - Chief."
The AFA doesn't want repercussions.
Who falls on their sword first?

There have been numerous cases of conservatives have been not allowed to speak at college campuses. Charlie Kirk, Riley Gaines, Michael Knowles, Ben Shapiro, Jason Riley, to name a few.
Liberals get upset when the rules they establish get turned on them.

Well, if you want to say "fair" or "unfair," I refer to this quaint old free speech thingy that was in an ancient document. "I am the Lord thy God. Thou shalt have no gods before me." The Supreme Court has interpreted that to mean "Thou shalt not criticize thy God Donald Trump."
But seriously, folks...in what way does being "high profile" affect a person's right to exercise free speech?
And doesn't free speech include "disparaging" someone else? I hasten to add that what she said was more "criticising" than "disparaging," but even so, it's not a crime. The Orange Shit could sue her for libel if he wants.
And...who gives a stinking flying basket of overripe rat turds what the AFA wants? Are we to have a society where saying anything critical about the ruling party's emperor can cause the loss of your job, or any other negative consequence, for that matter?
I know I keep alluding to this, but in places like Soviet Russia and Nazi Germany, the first consequence of speaking out against the Big Cheese was losing your professional standing and often, your job. That, of course, became much worse in short order.
So she criticizes the Orange Asshole and the Luftwaffe Training Schule doesn't like it! So bloody goddamn motherfucking what? Why should ANYBODY have to fall on their sword?
And Candy...I disparage Trump almost every day. Should I be fired from my job? Arrested? Killed? What about that ancient document?

Kevin, you kinda miss my point. We can disparage anybody we want to. But at what cost? Hung by the tongue, and all that.
That Univ of Utah Professor, I feel bad for her, but maybe she should have been more careful, considerd the risks of publishing certain opinions on Trump, what her own university might think about it? Aren't teachers expected to be non-partisan on the job, and off the job has limits? She published her stuff in an alternative newspaper. Maybe she couldn't get it into a mainstream paper, but that's just my speculation.
Ordinary people write letters to the editor all the time criticizing POTUSes and other pols. But as I say, the higher the profile of the writer/speaker...
The professor said in the above article she was aware that her Lecture could be vetted (common practice) and that she knew she had to avoid touching on Trump's banning of DEI initiatives. She KNEW that already. The USAFA had a right to know who was speaking and the content. I'm guessing they felt they couldn't chance letting her get up and go off script, go into what she wrote about in February.
Just thoughts. What the heck do I know? Like Sgt. Schultz of Hogan's Heros...I know nothing!!!

I seem to recall quite a few MAGA-fueled kerfuffles about the speakers at universities. They've managed to get speaking engagements canceled dozens of times. And Trump regularly tries to pull funding from universities where someone, not even necessarily connected with the university, has spoken against him.
For decades, universities have made it clear that speakers and columnists do NOT necessarily reflect the views and stances of the host institution. This is a way to ensure that people who espouse controversial or simply unpopular positions aren't intimidated into silence. I think it's a wonderful thing. "I disagree with what you say but will defend to the death your right to say it." (sic) That's possibly the worst of the many horrible things that the awful Turd is doing to our country. People are being intimidated into silence, for fear of Trump's "retribution."
And as to your remarks about what teachers are and aren't supposed to say...in October 2020, I excused myself from a table in the break room, saying I had to "take a Trump." I received a sharp rebuke from the assistant principal later that day. Apparently, some MAGA teacher took umbrage at my lack of respect for his/her Dear Leader.
Since then, I'm Sgt. Schultz in the break room. And everywhere else in the school where I'm within 500 yards of another person. Don't want the Truth Police to show up. Jesus!
If you aren't a "yes man" you have no place in Trump's administration. Smart businessmen and leaders will tell you that is a recipe for failure. Or you can just look around the globe and see other governments that never challenge the guy at the top.
maga is collectively stupid. America will have very bad days ahead while this dipshit is in charge.
