MAGA Dairy Farmer gets hit with $2200 tariff

Well isnt this a kick in the pants !

Meet Farmer Gilbert.   He was a MAGA zealot who believed Canada would pay for Trump's tariffs.   Where did he get a crazy idea like that from?

His most recent order of feed for his livestock came with a $2200 tariff added onto his normal cost.    He cant pass the cost to his customers because prices are set by the local co-op.   And it costs more money to get feed from other places.    So poor farmer Gilbert just took a stiff one.

Maybe Tom and our resident Trump cheerleaders can explain to farmer Gilbert that he just needs to chill while Trump makes a great deal.

From the article:

"But the tariff was not only legal, it’s his responsibility to pay it. Tariffs are paid by domestic importers, not foreign exporters, despite Trump’s frequent claims otherwise"

When Trump said in his first term that China paid $5 billion to the US Treasury in the form of tariffs, I thought that no one would seriously believe that's how tariffs work. Then I discovered MAGA believed it! Heck, David Miller believed it until a few months ago. Intellectual midgets.

There are two morals to the story:

1) Never listen to Trump because he is a liar

2) Never name your kid "Gilbert"

More MAGA winning.  'Merica!

Just to add some context, Nicholas Gilbert is just a partial partner at Adon Farms with Andrew Gilbert, the owner.  Andrew Gilbert donates heavily to a Farm PAC that splits its donations 60/40 Republican and Democrat.

Perhaps he should buy American feed, as Canada isn't even in the top 10 producers in the world, and the USA is 2nd behind China.

I'm guessing Adon Farms had a long term deal with some Canadian producer just across the border and just as taxes may change, he and others didn't anticipate tariffs.

Interesting story, but lacks a lot of context and is full of bias.  I'll give you a 70% truth for this one.

Ottawa, Canada, is a 2-hour drive from their farm, but I'm sure they would appreciate a coder from West Texas to teach them how to buy feed. It's cool to find out you have more interests than just male genitalia.

But it's still cheaper with a 2200 tariff is what you're saying.  Not sure why you're focused on penis, but that seems to be a thing with liberals.

I'm not, I'm saying you are, not a catch-all group like libs, MAGA or RINOs, just you. Even back in your Aaron days. Here are a couple of recent examples.

Sorry about that, I completely misread your post, and my incorrect response wasn't what I was trying to say.
Although what I was trying to say was wrong as well.

That's what I get for posting while my wife's homemade spaghetti and meatballs are on the table.
