MAGA is really bad at lawfare

Hesgeth should face criminal prosecution for attempting to violate the civil rights of Kelly and every other service member, past and present.

I'm serious. Shouldn't malicious prosecution be punished?

Might be wishful thinking, but it looks like this may be creeping, albeit slowly, in that direction, Kevin.

But will ANY of the Turd administration's myriad civil rights violations--ICE raids, thug deployments to American cities, murders of protestors, or the attack on Kelly et al--ever be prosecuted as long as MAGA is in charge?

And will sanity and decency ever replace MAGA in running our country? They're working feverishly to ensure that they never lose another election, and in the interim, to sabotage and discredit every election they lose.

IMHO we're frighteningly close to fascism, and the checks and balances that should curb the Turd's worst impulses are failing miserably.

I always thought that MAGA, and Ronny Raygun Republicans before them, idolized and worshipped the American military. Now, Trump is leading an assault on decorated veterans. Where's all the MAGA outrage?

The lack of such outrage and the implied carte blanche given to the Turd are alarming. He attempts to ruin the lives and careers of people who didn't vote for him and when that fails, he just shrugs and goes on to some other evil horsecrap. No consequences at all!

IMHO the 'outrage' has to come from sources that impact Trump harshly, which is to say sources that themselves are impacted harshly enough.   High up types.   The court systems will move glacially because that's how they work, but that is what it will take, apparently.

The only thing that appears to "impact Trump harshly" is disapproval from his "base," which when it happens at all, is expressed in quiet murmurs and "tsk, tsk." It's not so much outrage as sporadic, mild disapproval.

The only disincentive that the courts could create for Trump would be actual, meaningful punishment, like massive fines and/or prison time. But all they do is wag their fingers, and he shrugs and oozes away to find someone else to hurt.

My, I believe, correct assessment of that supposed check on Trump's actions suggests that good old fashioned American violence is the only way we can stop him. And that means we might have to make the terrible choice between all the death and misery that would cause and all the misery and death a permanent MAGA regime would foster.
