Majority leader Mitch Mcconnell

I heard someone state, "Shame on you Mitch Mcconnell, you know Trump is unfit and too incompetent to be president, yet you enable Trump to continue unimpeded".

The "Never Trumpers" knew from day one that Trump was the wrong choice.  If any Republican member of Congress does not understand that, something is seriously wrong with them.  On the flip side, if they do understand that Trump is unfit. It shows how spineless they are and they care more about their political careers then the country.

Look on the bright side. Pretty soon, the Republican party will be about as relevant in American politics as the Whig party. People will be too ashamed to admit they ever voted for Trump. Conservatism will be the philosophy of slowly dying old white men, and no one else.

There's a silver lining in all the pain we're going through now. It's showing just how incompetent Trump is and how morally bankrupt his followers are. We'll get rid of Trump and Mitch and all the other lackeys, and life will be better.

There are lots of rumors that The Lincoln Project's ultimate goal is to create a new conservative political party after Trump is gone. Splitting the Republican party in half sounds like a good goal to me.

He's given them tax cuts, supreme court justices, federal judges up the wazzu, and lots of deregulations (which is a nice way of saying "allowing businesses to get away with unethical practices").

And thats enough to turn a blind eye to his financial self dealing, nepotism, foreign meddling, flagrant racism, virus incompetence, immigrant family destruction, deficits, and the cast of felons surrounding him.

The George Will and Steve Schmidt Republicans very much want to alienate themselves from the Confederate Alt-Right.    And good for them.

Here's the problem.....there isn't a big demographic of people that support the non-racist agenda of the Republican party.    Trickle down economics and tax policy dont benefit any kind of voting majority.    Republicans dont win elections with their economic platform - they win them with abortion, guns, and racism.

The reason why the Republicans show such solidarity behind the awful Trump is that they don't want to admit to themselves that they committed a stupid, evil, and traitorous act in voting for him. Think about it. They say to themselves, "Gee, I never should have voted for that awful wad of phlegm." Then they say, "Wait, doesn't that mean I'm at best, a gullible moron?"

That is a moment of introspection that most people don't have the courage to undergo. So instead, they jam on their MAGA hats, climb into their pickup trucks, and roar off to a Trump hate rally, running over a few Mexicans on the way. Then they cheer themselves hoarse as Trump spews another incoherent rant. Everybody around them reinforces that behavior. Much more fun than admitting the truth!

So I don't see much of a splinter group shearing off from the Republican party. It seems to me like the vast majority of them are all in. Stupidity reinforces stupidity.
