Mamdani taps 'architect' of $1.1B plan to replace cops with social workers

So it begins - this should end well. The morons who voted for this DemocRAT insanity will rue the day -- When developing the Department of Community Safety proposal, which aims to replace police officers with mental health professionals to deal with non-life-threatening emergencies with a focus on subway stations, Bisgaard-Church reportedly spoke to mental health experts, public safety officials from other cities and former New York City Police Department (NYPD) Chief of Department Rodney Harrison. The new department will cost approximately $1.1 billion, according to a campaign proposal on Mamadani's website. - https://www.foxnews.com/politics/mamdanis-top-incoming-aide-chief-architect-radical-proposal-overhauling-nypd

It's actually a smart plan, because it will free up police officers to deal with more serious problems that they are trained and equipped for.

Most of what happens in subway stations is petty crime and misdemeanors, and often involves the homeless and/or mentally ill. Thus, it's as much a social problem as a crime problem  There's a reason why regular cops dislike subway station/subway train duty: they're basically glorified security guards in that role.

Also, social workers will often be better trained to deal with the situations that come up in subway stations than regular cops would.

I can't see why NYC citizens, even MAGAs, would object. Fewer cops down in the subway means more cops on the streets

But of course, ignorant Fox Nooze found an excuse to bleat about it.

HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa - Christ, you are ignorant.

A significant amount of police calls are because of mental health issues and that goes for both rural and urban areas. Social Workers are better equipped to deal with mental health issues than the local cops are because it simply isn't what they are trained to do nor should it be their job.

They have had to step into that role more and more since Ronald Reagan shut down the mental health institutions.  Conservatives are always saying the solution to school shootings is better mental healthcare. Why is it they are unwilling to follow through and spend more money on mental health care?

You, as usual, over look, as most liberals do, the overriding fact that almost every criminal has "mental issues". Throw in "no cash bail", gutless prosecutors and corrupt judges and you have the crimewave  of today's criminals.

If this idea had been proposed by a Republican, Fox Nooze and Davey Pig would be shouting in praise from the rooftops. It's common sense that situations that require mental health professionals be dealt with by...mental health professionals.

In fact, you can validate the wisdom of this plan simply by noting that Fox Nooze and Davey Pig object to it.

Crime has been declining for decades. And most criminals are perfectly sane. Not you, though, Davey Dog; your criminality and your love for pedos signify serious mental defects.

So now kevin is an expert on the NYC subways.  There were over 2,200 felonies in the subways last year or about 7 per day or about every 3 hours.

Actually they are trained on how to deal with these mental health issues.

Social Workers are better equipped to deal with mental health issues

No they are not and in madmani's dream world he will be able to find several thousand people willing to do this.

The person who will determine who to send, will be a 911 operator not trained in thse situations and not on on site to make the determination

Wait until one of these people gets killed

The "stop and frisk" people have a problem with NY's new approach to dealing with street crime.
