Maskless And Very Busy In Vegas

I wanted to post a quick update on my in-progress trip. It is very busy here.  In fact, it is unbelievably busy.  I have been on 10+ trips over the years to Vegas and never seen it this busy. Anecdotally, only 1% of the people I see are wearing masks excluding employees. It seems like everyone flocked here once the CDC said you don't have to wear a mask if you have been vaccinated.

I suspect the COVID rates are going to skyrocket because of the sheer number of 20 to 30 somethings out here who are unlikely to have been vaccinated. There is absolutely no social distancing on the Strip sidewalks, Freemont street and most of the venues I have been to. It is wall to wall with people bumping into each other.

Those girls on the strip and on Freemont Street dressed in sexy costumes are raking in an unbelievable amount of cash because so many people are taking pictures with them. I discreetly watched a group of them for 10 minutes. I couldn't believe how many of them I saw on Freemont that just had their nipples covered with tape and a g-string on for bottoms.  Of course, there were families constantly passing by. I don't know what these folks that drag their young kids up and down Freemont Street and the strip after dark are thinking.

I was skeptical about a solo trip but I have met a lot of unbelievably cool folks and am having the time of my life.

During my trip last week, I saw an unbelievable number of people for midweek. I left before the weekend, but it was obvious that there was going to be a human tsunami.

The sad part about this feed-our-addiction mad rush to Vegas is that the casinos know all too well that it's going to keep up all summer, and as a result, Vegas will be the worst ripoff it's ever been, and for some time at that. People who come to Vegas are going to get rode hard and put up wet, as they say.

I also don't see how on earth it's going to be pleasant with 100+-degree temps and huge crowds everywhere. As with anything else, you don't want to be part of a feeding frenzy. Me, I'm going to Reno if I want to blow my money this summer.

Enjoy your visit, PJ.

If one looks at the LVA webcams, they will find that the Strip & FSE is far from "wall to wall people"  Auto traffic is light

I am at Ellis Island right now. They were quoting over an hour wait time at 11:AM at the Village Pub.

Oh, there were 12 people packed into the elevator with me just before I left.

I tried during my trip, at 8 pm on a Tuesday night...I waited for over an hour and gave up. (Fortunately, we had some free play and match play coupons to use up, so it wasn't a total waste of time.)

The traffic on I-15 and on the Strip between Trop and Sahara was ridiculous: Friday-night level. That was the case on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 3 pm on. I can only imagine what it was like last weekend.

well, staying at the Rio for the Trek Convention may not be a bad idea.

Sigh, people here just don't have a sense of humor.

Whoa, Mark, what happened to your hooker story?  I thought it was funny.  Did somebody run to the teacher?
