Mass Shootings in the United States - 2019 (to date)

Trump takes credit for every positive thing that has happened during his presidency, including those he has nothing to do with, so why shouldn't he shoulder the blame when his MAGA followers start killing people, which IS his fault?

As to why these horrible events happen, it's because the NRA WANTS them to happen. They want everybody cowering in fear and packing heat. And as far as the motivations for those acts are concerned--we decent people were shocked when we heard that dozens of Hispanics were shot in El Paso, but lets not forget that millions of Trumpers came in their pants when they heard the same news.

Was the Akron shooter a MAGA follower? The Philly shooter?

The El Paso shooter was a rabid racist long before Trump thought of running for office. His racism was condemned by the president, and by conservatives here.

The NRA is the largest CIVIL RIGHTS group in this nation. Too bad Kevin is against civil rights guaranteed by the constitution.

The NRA has nothing to do with civil rights. It's an industry lobbying organization. And before you start prattling about the Second Amendment, try READING it. It refers to the COLLECTIVE right of the people to raise an armed militia, not to the right of wingnuts to own weapons of mass murder.

And you have your facts wrong. Trump said the El Paso shooter was mentally ill. He never condemned the guy's racist motives--or for that matter, acknowledged that he was perfectly sane.

And Bob, don't say things about me that aren't true and about which you know nothing. As far as civil rights go, what about the civil rights of all the victims of Trump-inspired shootings who were just going about their daily business? Didn't they have the right to be safe from Trumper hate?

You are against civil rights expressed by the 2nd amendment, ergo you are against civil rights if they don't fit your twisted agenda. You are totally ignorant as to what the 2nd amendment actually means. You don't understand self defense, what militia meant back then, and you don't understand that the 2nd amendment refered to what were weapons of war back then.

Trump has condemned racists and racism many times. Do you think what the El Paso shooter did was the act of a sane person? He was full of hate...like you. You've already expressed your desire for the president to be shot to death

Bob, you don't make yourself any less wrong, or any more credible, by attacking and insulting me. Like Trump, it makes you feel better and more of a man, but it's pointless and just exposes you for what you are.

But to dignify your question with an answer it doesn't deserve, yes, authorities have said the El Paso shooter appears to be perfectly sane. That's why he's being charged with hate crimes and mass murder. Insane people aren't charged with such offenses, because they are believed to be incapable of understanding the consequences of their actions. This was most emphatically not the case with this man. He gave a detailed interview to the police.

Hate is not the same thing as insanity. Heck, even following Trump is not ipso facto proof of insanity. The vast majority of Nazis and Trumpers realize full well what they're saying and doing and are quite capable of comprehending their own evil.

Parenthetically, I don't know why you would be defending the "right" of someone to shoot up a Wal-Mart full of Hispanics unless you were wishing you could do the same thing. It's grotesque to defend the guy by saying he is just a garden-variety nutjob. What he is is much, much worse--a Trumper white supremacist mass murderer.

Lewie writes "The NRA has nothing to do with civil rights.  It's an industry lobbying organization."  Lewie, the members are largely gun owners, not gun sellers or gun producers.  This makes this organization anything by an "industry" lobby.

Boilerman, you study and emulate Trump in every way, including using stupid nicknames for your "opponents." However, I can't retaliate in kind, because I can't think of a name that sounds any more stupid than the one you've chosen for yourself. Now, with that out of the way:

I agree that most of the NRA membership are gun owners (and gun lovers). However, I was referring to the PURPOSE of the organization and what it actually does. The vast majority of its efforts and funds is spent in lobbying and bribing lawmakers.

I really doubt that you can contribute to a substantive discussion on this issue, because you're a Trumper and (I suspect) besotted by gun love. It's telling that all you can think of to bolster your argument is to call me silly names. Just like Trump! Congratulations!

Who cares what kind of lobby it is?   A lobbiest's job is to persuade politicians to put their interests in front of those of the general public.    And "persaude" in this context is just a euphamism for "bribe".

A very distinct minority of gunowners agree with the extremist positions taken by the NRA - which is why the membership has cratered in recent years.

There's also an outcry regarding Wayne Lapierre's spending abuses which are bad enough to make Jimmy Swaggart blush.     Personally, I kinda like seeing NRA's contributions being  spent on Wayne's wardrobe from Gucci  instead of bribing my Senator.      Great job, Wayne !

So, the bill of rights are against the interests of the general public. Interesting to know.

NRA membership has been dropping recently, but it's not because of what you call "extremist positions". It is because of Lapierre's spending abuses.
