Meanwhile, back at the cash register...

Yes, we know exactly who caused it.  Your guy promised to lower prices on day one. Instead he has done everything in his power to raise prices.

Bullshit, and you know it. You don't fix 4 years of corruption overnight. President Trump is putting into place the necessary actions that will lower prices - your impatience and asinine comments were nowhere to be found the past 4 years - and carry no weight now.

The Turd LUVVVS to put up smokescreens to distract us from the effects of all the shit he's doing. The latest crap is his attempt to equate the shooting of Kirk with the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. But before that, there was all this idiotic sensationalist shit and nonsensical announcements...I don't have to list them all. But in the meantime...

The idiot fuck Turd's dumbass tariffs fully kicked in as of August 17. At first, retailers depleted the stocks that they had built up over the last three months, in preparation for the Trumpiffs. But those stocks are depleted, and retailers are having to replace them with tariffed goods. Prices are creeping up.

I did the Walmart comparison again yesterday, The basket of goods now costs $50.23: a 22% increase from the price of the identical basket in June.

But here's the really scary part. Gas prices went up by 30 cents a gallon from Aug 17 to today. And we're in the time of year when historically, gas prices have always plummeted, due to decreased demand and the switch to cheaper winter fuels.

What are you seeing that has gotten more expensive, just in the last 30 days or so, and how much difference?

Cool, now do 2 years ago.

Trump said he was going to lower prices on day one. He has done the exact opposite. His yo-yo tarrifs are what is causing this round of inflation. And it is also sending the overall economy into the shitter.

Where were your concerns/complaints the past 4 years - (1460 days) - during the corrupt brain dead Biden America ruining presidency? Fixing the damage done by Biden and the DemocRATs will take time.

Uh uh. The Turd promised to fix everything on Day One. Then on Day Two, he took credit for the humming-along economy he inherited from Biden. Then he put his plan to fuck up the economy into motion.

"It will take time" is a weasel phrase.

Two years ago, inflation was subsiding, partly due to the Inflation Reduction Act and partly due to supply chains reopening after covid. We all could see that.

Of course, as I've said before, blaming Biden for worldwide inflation that had been caused by a worldwide event is and was beyond stupid. Now, however, the Turd is taking actions that are DELIBERATELY RAISING PRICES. See the difference?

A large portion of the electorate couldn't wrap their heads around that very simple concept, which is why they voted for the Turd. They actually believed that he would usher the economy into a new golden age, and prices would never, never, never go up again. I can only hope that they know who's to blame for the current and coming horrible inflation and recession.

Coffee, Peanut Butter.

Candy

I get why coffee is up up up, but don't we produce our peanut butter domestically?

Oh, fuck, I should have known. While about 80% of our peanut butter is produced domestically, about 20% is imported from China. So the Trumpiffs screws with that, too.

There also might be the issue of labor shortages in the peanut harvest. I don't know who harvests and processes them, but as it's seasonal, migrant workers might be involved.

I'm looking at jars of Jiff Extra Cruncy PB and Walmart's Great Value Crunchy PB.  Neither jar label discloses where their peanuts are harvested, and an online search didn't say either.

Of course it isn't just about who grows a crop and harvests it that affect price.  Every thing, including who makes and supplies the jars, the labels, transportation costs, labor costs in the stores, etc.  Everybody's costs are up, so it gets passed onto us consumers.

This jar of GV BP is the first I've ever bought 'cause I love Jiff, always bought Jiff.  There is a difference.  Not bad, very OK, but not quite as yummy (to me) as the Jiff.  The same size GV jar was somewhere around $3 lower in price than the Jiff, making it worth a try.  Not bad, just not Jiff.

It will take me 6 months to use up this GV jar.   Then I'll go back to Jiff 'cause I love it, price be damned.  If something's going to clog my arteries and make me fat, at least I'll enjoy the taste more.

I just should have bought the smaller size of GV to try it.  Stupid me!

I vastly prefer the crunchy kind that you have to stir--oil floating on the top. That is a natural state, which in "no-stir" peanut butter is prevented by adding hydrogenated oils. Those oils are super-bad for you. They elevate "bad" cholesterol levels, induce heart disease, and have even been linked to some cancers.

As far as my favorite brands go--surprisingly, Laura Scudders is really good; Adams is the best IMHO but is more expensive; even Wally Butter is a decent alternative. And if you have access to Trader Joe's, their house brand is awesome and awesomely priced.

The above brands are much better than Jiffy IMHO. I also think Skippy is kind of gross.

Am I the only one who makes peanut butter and raisin sandwiches?

As far as generics go, I think Dollar General has some of the best tasting generics on the market. Their PB is good and they have the best selection of generic chips I have ever tasted.
