Meanwhile, The Republican War On Women Continues

The American Taliban has opened new fronts in their ongoing jihad against women. In Alabama, the Republican party is trying to pass legislation that would charge any doctor that performs an abortion with a felony that carries a penalty of up to 99 years in prison. There is no rape or incest exception. Boy, those Southern Republicans sure do love rape and incest.

Not to be outdone. Republicans in Ohio want to pass a law that bans most common birth control such as birth control pills and IUDs as "abortifacients."  Private insurance would also be prohibited from covering abortion at all even in the case of rape or incest. As an added cruelty, women experiencing an ectopic or tubal pregnancy would be forced to have a medical procedure that does not exist. They would have to have the embryo from their fallopian tube removed and reinserted into their uterus to prevent it from being aborted even though such procedure doesn't exist and isn't scientifically sound as the embryo wouldn't survive.

Some folks believe that babies should not be murdered.  Next Libs will argue that women have 12 months after birth to decide if they want a child.  Snuffing an 11 month old will be just fine.

Boiler, Republicans clearly believe that birth control should be illegal, that rape victims should be forced to have their rapist's babies and that women that will likely die without medical intervention should be forced to continue on with their tubal pregnancy even though there is zero chance of the fetus ever becoming viable.

Yet they are pro boner pill? It is just more proof that Republicans are the most hypocritical creatures on earth like the anti-gay Jerry Falwell Jr. and his "racy" pictures and his relationship with his pool boy.  Falwell is the perfect example of why male Republicans need their boner pills.  They don't believe in sex with a woman unless it is for procreation, but gay sex on the side is perfectly fine as long as you don't call it gay.

You sure know what Republicans believe, except that you don't know what Republicans believe! There are some people who don't believe birth control is morally right for religious reasons. There are quite a few people who don't believe tax payers should be paying for birth control. They believe people should be responsible for their own behavior...Is that exclusive to Republicans? Some people believe that an unborn child is not responsible for the circumstances that resulted in their conception, and does not deserve to be killed because of it. Show me and the world an OBGYN who will say a pregnant woman will die if she doesn't have an abortion. She can deliver a viable baby, via C-section if necessary, while receiving medical treatment before, during and after the baby is delivered alive. It doesn't need to be killed.

Does Alyssa Milano’s #SexStrike apply to her husband?

Republicans are "pro boner pill", and that is proof of hypocrisy???   ED doesn't affect men who want to have children with their wives???

Maybe you think "gay sex on the side is perfectly fine as long as you don't call it gay" and you found a Republican pervert to join you. If you look long enough, you might find 3 or 4 more who believe it. That doesn't mean that Republicans believe it.

Mark, you couldn't be more wrong.

Boiler said, Mark, you couldn't be more wrong.

How so? Those prohibitions outlawing the most common birth control, denying all abortions including those sought by rape and incest victims, and those with tubal pregnancies that won't produce an actual baby but will put the women's health at risk are in the actual text of the bills they are passing in various states or trying to pass in various states.  If it is right there spelled out in black and white, how am I wrong?

Bob said, You sure know what Republicans believe, except that you don't know what Republicans believe! There are some people who don't believe birth control is morally right for religious reasons. There are quite a few people who don't believe tax payers should be paying for birth control.

I get that there are some people that have religious reasons for opposing birth control. That doesn't mean they get to impose their religious beliefs on the entire population of a state.  If they are opposed to birth control, they can abstain from taking it.  As a taxpayer, I don't believe in subsidizing big business and almost every business that isn't classified as a small mom and pop business is subsidized by the taxpayers these days from each Wal-Mart Supercenter to a private helipad for the richest man in the country. As a taxpayer, I am not allowed to veto those decisions made by my state and local government even though I don't believe they are morally right, so why should a few taxpayers be allowed to veto paying for birth control?  I will also add paying for birth control is a hell of a lot cheaper than the taxpayers paying to subsidize a kid until they are 18.

There are lots of women that for a whole host of medical reasons cannot deliver a viable baby even with a C-Section.  The various medical reasons are too numerous to list.  Although, I gave a very big example above.  1-2% of all pregnancies are ectopic pregnancies or tubal pregnancies. The mother cannot deliver a viable baby no matter what medical intervention is made.

From Google: An ectopic pregnancy is one that occurs outside the womb, usually in one of the fallopian tubes. Because the fetus cannot survive and the mom could suffer life-threatening internal bleeding, ectopic pregnancies, which may account for as many as one in 40 pregnancies, are terminated at the earliest sign.

Republicans in Ohio are trying to force women to undergo a medical procedure removing the embryo from their fallopian tube and reinserting it into their uterus to prevent it from being aborted in these types of pregnancies. No such procedure exists and it would not result in a viable baby yet republicans want Government to force these women against their will to undergo a procedure that will result in a miscarriage just for the sake of them not having an abortion. That is just sick and disgusting.

IDK - You would have to ask her.

Bob said, Republicans are "pro boner pill", and that is proof of hypocrisy???   ED doesn't affect men who want to have children with their wives???

So you would be alright if we banned boner pills for any non-married man or any married man who doesn't have a spouse of childbearing age or for medical reasons cannot get pregnant?  Furthermore, could we impose a criminal sentence on any man with a prescription for boner pills that is having an affair with someone that isn't his wife? Could we imprison them for masturbation while on boner pills?

Bob, I think you should hang out at the chans for a few weeks. You would be surprised at how many conservatives hold this belief. I know I was shocked when I learned they didn't think it was gay sex if the man they were having gay sex with had a feminine penis. Here is a video of a popular conservative commentator running down all the reasons having gay sex isn't gay.

One can rationalise most anything when one is defending their own personal deviant behavior.

Mark, I'll tell you how you're wrong.  All the things you say above about me, a Republican, are wrong.

You are not in charge of writing these laws. However, you support and vote for the politicians that do, so you support these policies even if it is indirectly.

For the record from prior discussions, I know you are pro-birth control as am I, but I don't vote for religious wackos that try to impose their religious beliefs on others.

Abortion has never been an issue I vote on....but strictly from a political perspective the worst thing for Republicans would be to overturn Roe-V-Wade (or completely circumvent it as in this Alabama bill).

Universal Polling overwhelmingly favors a woman's right to choose but the oppositte positon is a big get-out-the-vote operation of the Republican base.   If this bill prevails it gives a massive incentive for the former group who might have otherwise stayed home or based their vote on another issue.

Sometimes you need bills like this to wake up the center.    I'm curious to see if the governor will sign it.
