Meanwhile, The Republican War On Women Continues

I would conclude its not self-aware.....kinda like Teryy Schiavo...or Dan Quayle.

I have no problem erradicating a zygote...   Or a pregnancy  resulting from a 13 year old girl who was raped by her uncle.    And neither does the overwhelming majority of Americans.   People like yourself stand in an etremist position held by a radical religous cult.

And you have every right to stand there.    And nobody is happier about it than Alabama's Democrat Senator who is up for reelection in 2020.

I don't believe that a 13 year old who was raped should be forced to have the baby.  Why would you suggest such a thing?

because the Alabama law now requries that child be born...and a doctor who aborts it serves life in prision.

Do you support that?

That incest/rape zygote is a human being by your definition given earlier.   So why is that not murder by your standards?

"People like yourself stand in an etremist position held by a radical religous cult."

It's called having a conscience. Maybe some day you'll have one too.

PJ, I don't have a clue about that law and I've not commented about that law.  I suspect I agree with some of it and disagree with some of it.

I would like to know PJ's opinion of what day that a zygote becomes a baby, and I'd like an logical explaination of why that day make more sense than the day before or the day after.

I've already given you my defintion...when it becomes self-aware.   I haven't heard your definiton yet...because you've gave contradiciting vews on this thread.

Clearly you believe exceptions should be made to allow for the "murder" of a fertilized egg despite you believing that is a human being.   Perhaps you should consider all those excpetions and whether you (or the subject of the abortion) is in the best position to make that decision.    Thats really what the pro-life/pro-choice debate is about.

This thread is about the new Alabama law which makes no excepitons of any kind except for the life of the mother.   It seems as though you dont support that...I'd say thats sensible.

I have been doing some further research and I find it interesting how the Bible defines when life begins.

Genesis 2:7

Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

So, the Bible says you only become a living being once you take your first breath. There is more in Psalms 33:6.

By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, And by the breath of His mouth all their host.

The Bible is pretty definitive life begins at first breath and ends at last breath.  There are several more passages that allude to this, but anyway you get the point. So those people that cite their Christian religion as a reason for opposing abortion don't even know what their own religion's definitive tome says. Mark suggests Christian scholars like Jerry Falwell Jr. spend more time reading the actual book they are supposed to be experts on and less time with their pool boys.

PJ Stroh writes: " [a zygote becomes a baby] when it bcomes self-aware."

Definition:

self - awareness

__n. conscious knowledge of one's own character, feelings, motives, and desires

By this definition even poor old DonDiego  may  still be subject to abortion.

That's not the definition of when life begins. That's the definition of when man (singular) began. There was no woman, no mother, no womb, no birth, no baby...just the dust of the ground.

And PJ or anyone knows when a baby becomes self aware?  I think not.  Do you recall being "self aware"?  Anyone could argue that self awarenes is at 14 months after birth or 14 months after concerption, or 3 years later, for that mater.  Any argument is an argument about convenience, not logic.
