Everyone enjoy yourselves. Hug your family a little tighter and enjoy your time with good friends. The lights of America are dimming. The "great experiment" has failed, and we are now in the grip of single-party rule and a fascist dictator who also happens to be immoral, unethical, and a complete idiot.
Recognize that roughly half of the people around you, the exact proportion depending on where you live, are stupid and evil. They voted for a horrible person who will steer this country straight off a cliff. All of our lives are about to become immeasurably worse.
So this is when I celebrate two things: one, I'm surrounded by friends and family, people I love, not one of whom is a stupid, evil MAGA, and I live in a community where people don't fantasize about shooting brown people and torturing folks who don't act and believe the way they do. The good will here exists not just for the holidays, but year-round. We're a compassionate and caring true community. Life in the US is about to go to hell, but at least we'll be able to fend off some of the worst effects. Trump won't be allowed to shit on Oregon.
I hope that you all--even you MAGA garbage--connect with those you love and celebrate doing so. We'll look back on this time as the last when Trump's Abortion Police and deportation squads didn't yet exist. We'll remember when this was a free democracy and we could vote. And we'll hope that somehow, the MAGA era will eventually end.
