Pence signaled that he might no longer be willing to be merely a Trump appendage when he didn't follow the Orange Pusbag's orders on Jan. 6th. So it's reasonable to expect that he might be trying to work his passage--and evade any prosecution--by cooperating with the committee.
We know from his four years of cheerful Trump servitude that he has no principles or honor, so throwing his former boss under the bus might be the most appealing course for him.
