I thought that Mitch was making an astute political move when he let Trump be the one to push for larger stimulus. Turns out, he was just trying to distance himself from Trump---which seems odd, since he's in the Senate for another six years no matter what, albeit possibly no longer as majority leader.
I'm hoping that voters in Gawhgiah aren't fooled by Loefflerpurdue's sudden change of heart. It's pretty obvious that they've flipped on the stimulus payments in order to save their own asses; the two Senate runoffs are going to be a lot closer than anyone thought they would be. Hopefully, everyone realizes that if these grifting swine weren't up for reelection, they would be telling struggling Americans to go pound sand. Ossoff and Warnock should be beating that drum, telling voters that once these Republiholes assure themselves of being in power for another six years, they'll vote straight lockstep Trump-love party line. No financial help for anyone who isn't a billionaire.
McConnell's a swine, but he's undeniably crafty. I think he may be blowing it, though. Trump's right about the damage this will do to the GOP (he's occasionally right about things, in the same way that a broken clock is accurate twice a day). Like you, Mark, I'm amused by watching Mitch & Co. blow holes in the already leaky Republican ship.
