Some members of the California Assembly objected to an increase of the applicability of CA's Three Strikes law, saying that it lessens judicial discretion and authority and has led to prison overcrowding.
That's it. Nothing to justify David's hysteria and pretentious hyperbole.
The public placed pressure on the Assembly because it's understanding of the bill was as shallow and misinformed as David's. A lot of the less informed want severe penalties for crimes but don't want to pay the taxes needed to support the system.
