More Intrigue: State Dept Inspector General Requests 'Urgent' Ukraine Briefing On Capitol Hill

The State Department’s inspector general is expected to give an "urgent" briefing to staffers from several House and Senate committees on Wednesday afternoon about documents obtained from the department’s Office of the Legal Adviser related to the State Department and Ukraine, sources familiar with the planned briefing told ABC News.

The unusual nature and timing of the briefing – during a congressional recess – suggests it may be connected to a recent intelligence community whistleblower allegation which describes, in part, the State Department’s role in coordinating interactions between Rudy Giuliani, the president’s personal attorney, and Ukrainian officials.

The inspector general is the department's internal investigator and watchdog, and the office generally operates independently of the department's political leadership.

It's refreshing that the IG, a Trump appointee, is actually doing his job and not behaving like a ball-gagged Trump lackey. That's very unusual in the Traitor Trump administration.

I expect a Trump tweet about how the IG should be killed very soon--that, or Trump will fire him and replace him with a former Fox News "reporter."

For once I'll agree with Kevin Lewis.  It's refreshing the the IG is actually doing his job helping expose the corruption in Ukraine.  I expect the looney liberal left and corrupt media will soon be attacking this brave American.

Given that the IG is doing what the "looney liberal left" wants him to do--i.e., his job--I doubt that he'll be attacked from that side.

The IG is not exposing "the corruption in Ukraine." That's not what he's doing, and that's not his job. It's not the responsibility of the IG to examine the internal affairs of another sovereign nation.

What IS his responsibility is to determine, on an independent and nonpartisan basis, whether there is or was malfeasance in the Trump administration. As in, INSPECTOR General.

LOL...Let's see exactly what the IG turned over to congress.  CNN has the documents.  Why don't they publish them?  Or aren't you interested in 'transparency' anymore.

I don't control what CNN does, but I would imagine that they're waiting until they have everything before presenting the documents. They have every reason to do so. Anyway, what's your point?

On second thought, I don't care what your point is.

What has been turned over are a bunch of news clippings and other types of long-debunked conspiracy articles (think Glenn Beck's chalkboard) collected by Rudee who then turned them over to the State Department via the Trump administration to investigate. Also included were emails between State Department employees that thought it was ludicrous to spend department resources investigating the long-debunked crackpot conspircy theories Rudee produced.
