Correct. Not to mention that I directed it at myself. If someone takes offense, that's their right, but based on the universal use and acceptance of the word in its obviously intended context, I think that's taking PC sensitivity to extremes. I should also mention that I used the word intentionally and drew attention to using it to highlight that I'm not asking you to be perfectly PC when you comment, just to stay within reasonable lines. You're all adults. You know what that means.
In Summary, the literal meaning of the word is unacceptable - for instance, if one were to brag to their friends about "grabbing a woman by the p@ssy". But calling someone a P@ssy for taking offense at such a statement would be fine.
In my experience the "P" word in any context is far less offensive than the synonym that starts with a "C". For some reason the latter really upsets the females .... except when they're watching Game of Thrones. Someone drops the "C" bomb on that show about 5 times every episode.
Good Summary, PJ, except I didn't realize that I was being called a P. Ha.
James Bond brought P into common usage, his lady friend's name. Credit Hollywood, as with most things. I've never watched Game of Thrones, which is probably a good thing. So now C will become the new P? Too bad.
Over and out.
I was going to stay out this thread but what the hell. Historically speaking, Boiler is way off base. When Europe was in the Dark Ages, Muslims invented modern mathematics including Algebra and Trigonometry which led to them creating some of the first modern engineering marvels like vertical windmills, various suction pumps, magnifying glass and the first cameras. They created the first surgical instruments, invented what we now consider common surgical procedures and opened the first hospitals. Musically, they were the first to have Marching Bands and they created the first guitars.
Oh, and they were the first to create and use soap and toothbrushes which is kind of ironic given the views expressed in this thread. In fact, many of the things we take for granted as having been created by Western Civilization were in fact created by Muslim civilization.
All of this innovation came when our European ancestors were trapped in a perpetual barbarism. Our male ancestors were allowed to work the fields for substance in exchange for service to their local lord while their wives and daughters were forced to service the same lord in the bedroom. (droit du seigneur) And the Christian church was ok with all of that.
If Boiler or anyone else is reading this while enjoying a cup of coffee, they should consider that their coffee is a Muslim invention.
It is also worthwhile mentioning our current President built, modeled and named his gambling mecca after the world's most famous mosque. (Funny word, mecca, perhaps someone should look up its origin.)
A side note - Try not to paste html or other code into the forum it doesn't work.
The Muslims of old are not the Muslims of today. Wake up and smell the coffee Mark.

And the Christians are entirely the same. Their churches are still run by pedophiles.
And this board is still full of imbeciles ...
DonDiego opines a response to this observation that Christian churches are run by pedophiles is insufficient.
Historians generally define the Goldan Age of Islam as the 8th Century through the 14th Century, . . . or perhaps as late as the 16th century.
So why the decline ? And what is the likelihood of a positive resurgence in the fortunes of Islamic cultures and countries?
The Islamic State (ISIS) has now claimed responsibility for the weekend terror-bombings in Sri Lanka. (Ref Wall Street Journal ). Clearly these Muslims are not intent on restoring a Golden Age. They are, in fact, different from ". . . the Muslims of old".
Don asked, "So why the decline?"
I am glad you asked. They turned away from rationality, embraced fundamentalism and science became heresy. These beliefs are very similar to the beliefs of the 35-40% of our population that is currently running the Federal Government and supporting Trump. They too have rejected any science and rationality that conflicts with their articles faith such as Global warming. Their belief that the thrice-married, serial liar, serial sexual assaulter of women and an unindicted co-conspirator, Trump, is a Christ-like figure or God's chosen one that will lead America into a new golden age is nuttier than a squirrel turd.
This cult-like faith in their irrational belief system led them to believe things like our prior President is a secret radical Muslim that wasn't born in this country but yet at the same time many of them said he was also a secret follower of radical Christian black liberation theology. They aren't even rational enough to understand those are incompatible ideologies.
This right-wing radicalism allows them to conclude all sorts of things that don't stand up to scientific scrutiny such as tax cuts pay for themselves, a group of guys chanting Jews will not replace us are really just misunderstood history buffs, a wall is the most effective way to secure the border, there is a secret sex dungeon in pizzeria where Hillary Clinton and other Democrats molest children, we have the best healthcare system in the world, easy access to guns doesn't lead to more mass shootings and practitioners of radical right-wing theology pose no domestic terrorism threat.
They often take action on these irrational beliefs passing laws that send us further down the road to ruin just like the Islamic Empire of old.
To me, there is very little difference between a teahadist and a jihadist. Both want to blow up things because they see themselves as God's chosen warriors whose duty it is to rid the world of heretics. They both want to start a holy war. Statistics show that in this country we face a greater danger from the teahadists yet those statistics were rejected as heresy by our cult leader as he just recently canceled funding for the last federal program that was designed to assess and monitor domestic terrorism threats.
