Muslims

It only took Mark 2 short sentences to then go on a tirade of false, misleading lies concerning the President and the current administration. Cleaning up the mess Obeyme left is a difficult job when half of the elected are content sitting on their asses, doing NOTHING to resolve real issues. For a moment there, I thought I was reading another tirade from PJ.  Mark and PJ really are birds of a feather.

Ah, here is exhibit A.

"Ah, here is exhibit A."   -- And to the left is exhibit B.S.

Don asked "So why the decline?"

Mark responded "I am glad you asked. They turned away from rationality, embraced fundamentalism and science became heresy."

DonDiego understands this response.  If, indeed, that is the cause of the decline it is most unfortunate.

DonDiego opines the rest of Mark's response is an excessive and unfair characterization of that portion of the US population which elected President Trump.

[Poor old DonDiego voted for Mr. Trump, . . . first and foremost because he opined Ms. Clinton to be the more despicable of the two foremost candidates.  And at the time poor old DonDiego was not even aware of the existence of Hillary's sex dungeon in a pizzeria !]

In fact DonDiego does not hold any of the "beliefs" which Mark ascribes to those who support President Trump. But, . . . he does opine that a wall would aid in securing the border; he has found the healthcare available to him in the USA has been quite adequate; he supports the 2nd Amendment "right to bear arms".  [He also recognizes the ability to amend the Constitution to eliminate this provision, if sufficient support to do so exists.  Those Founding Fathers were really something !]

In spite of these opinions he hasn't ascribed "Christ-like" attributes to any politician, . . . and is unlikely to do so in the future.

Unsubstantiated diatribes against and mischaracterizations of those with whom one disagrees are seldom productive.

Using mark's logic, America's public schools are run by pedophiles

The best available study suggests that about 10 percent of students suffer some form of sexual abuse during their school careers. In the 2000 report, commissioned by the American Association of University Women, surveyors asked students between eighth and 11th grades whether they had ever experienced inappropriate sexual conduct at school. The list of such conduct included lewd comments, exposure to pornography, peeping in the locker room, and sexual touching or grabbing. Around one in 10 students said they had been the victim of one or more such things from a teacher or other school employee, and two-thirds of those reported the incident involved physical contact. If these numbers are representative of the student population nationwide, 4.5 million students currently in grades K-12 have suffered some form of sexual abuse by an educator, and more than 3 million have experienced sexual touching or assault.

I did not know that Mark possessed any logic - I stand corrected.

Don said, "DonDiego opines the rest of Mark's response is an excessive and unfair characterization of that portion of the US population which elected President Trump."

Golly, I am confused.  I thought the whole point of this thread was to paint with broad brushstrokes and to characterize an entire group of people by the actions of a few people in that group.

Even if the point of the thread were to "characterize an entire group of people by the actions of a few", . . . it is not required that any later poster join in on such pursuits.

Well isn't that whats happening in this sentence?

"Considering the events of this Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka, it would seem a good policy to investigate potential Muslim immigrants critically before admitting them."

Umm, . . . no.

Perhaps PJStroh is unaware of the significant number of terrorist events which have involved Isamists over the recent decades, . . . think 9/11 NYC, . . . through Sri Lanka this past weekend.

DonDigo opines "being a Muslim" does not prove that an individual will commit violent crimes, . . . but it is good cause for a thorough vetting of potential Muslim immigrants.

n.b. Actually poor old DonDiego would like thorough vetting of anyone seeking citizenship in the United States, . . . but priorities are not necessarily a bad thing.
