Yes, but not everyone has had the luxury of knowing far in advance what they'd be able to do, both in terms of going on vacation at all and in what they'd be able to do once they got to Vegas. For instance, who knew back in, say, April whether the EDC would even happen or whether the Raiders would be selling tickets?
My particular example---I had no idea until recently what my job situation would be at this time. I'm sure that's true for a lot of people. So they say, hey, I have four days off, maybe I'll fly down to Vegas next month. And then--sticker shock. For everything.
It isn't "supply and demand" that bothers me. It's the willingness of people to pay insane prices, and then continue to pay them when they double. Or triple. People are so anxious to lose their money now that the casinos are gleefully gouging them, and they bend over and ask for more. It makes all of us have to pay extra.
And yeah, I don't think there should be any such thing as a $1000 per night hotel room even if there are hordes of suckers ready to pay that much.
