So who does the yard work and other maintenance and beautification on Trump's properties? Who cleans the interiors? Doubtful his wife, and doubtful a lot of caucasions apply for those duties. I don't know the citizenship of my yard men (husband died, I'm 77 and can't do it myself), or the team who painted our house or the team who put a new roof on the house. For certain none are/were native Americans, but they all did outstanding work with no complaints and did it for reasonable pay. I pray that all the yakkity yak about deportation of every non-American born person is just that...yakkity yak.
Candy
Well, Candy, the projected cost of the roundups alone, never mind the process of deportation or the construction and maintenance of concentration camps, would be about $4,000 for every man, woman, and child in the US. Trump thinks that he can pay for his tax breaks with tariffs and by running up the deficit, but there might not be enough resources for his Holocaust: The Sequel.
A major element of the fear that America and the world are experiencing right now is that there is, in fact, no way to tell just which of Trump's stated goals are real and which are red meat hyperbole meant to titillate his base. We sure as hell don't want a national 20% sales tax, but it's not a given that he'll implement it. Hell, it's not even clear that he understands how tariffs work. His recent remarks suggest that he doesn't. His ignorance, overall, is kind of terrifying.
Oh, and to return to the Trump Holocaust for a moment--yeah, all Trump wants to do is round 'em up, not kill 'em. But what happens when no other nation wants to accept eleven million people? Remember, Hitler originally tried to deport the Jews, not kill them. But no one, us included, would offer them refuge. At best, those deportees would languish for months, even years in the camps, with no means of support, in misery and fear. We'd have to provide them with food, clothing, and shelter--and how much would THAT cost?
The above practical objections should be enough for Trump to stop the program, never mind all the moral and ethical objections. But Trump did a whole bunch of impractical things, to put it mildly, during the hellscape of his presidency.
