But the reason Obamacare did not have a public option was because of other Democrats: Evan bayh, Blanch Lincoln, and Joe Lieberman.
The party has eveolved to universally embracing a public option now. But going for Medicare for All? There'll be more than a few Evan Bayhs, Blanch Lincolns, and Joe Liebermans in the current Democrat caucus to block that.
Baby steps is how this country moves. You dont have to like it. But thats history and the future

I'm not the President of the United States. The language and demeanor of the President should be...presidential. Mine doesn't have to be.
I sure hope, though, that Boilerman similarly complains about the language and insults used by David Miller, Tom, Charles, Molly, and yes, himself. Because only objecting to the language used by people you disagree with, while giving those you agree with a free pass, would be, y'know, hypocritical.

Yes, I agree. But the times when decency has been in power have been rare. 2008-2010 was a fleeting opportunity. There wasn't time to get all "incremental." But Democrats wanted to play nice--with a gang of unprincipled bullies.
Unfortunately, we're currently taking baby steps backward. And a lot of those regressions are hidden from the public--like Trump's new order on how Medicaid is administered by the states, removing several of their options. That alone will result in several hundred thousand people losing their Medicaid coverage. And of course, many of those people will die as a result. Does Trump care? Do Trumpers care?
I would really, really like to see Bernie or Liz win the nomination and come out and full-bore challenge the system. But can enough of the mouth-breathers be persuaded that so-called "radical" change would be in their own best interests? Cons peddle fear to keep themselves in power, and that's what they'll do on the campaign trail, as they have in the past, with great success.

The worst part of that is that the guy presumably listened to Pete speak and liked what he heard. Therefore, he voted for him based on his perception that he'd made a good Presidential candidate. Whom Pete prefers to have sex with shouldn't have affected that decision.
We'll never be a developed society as long as fear of the "other" dominates so many people's thinking. We have an entire political party that is in power primarily because it's learned to stoke that fear.
