The New England Trumps lose!

Tom Brady's last pass of his pro career was a pick-six. Football fans everywhere rejoiced.

I was kind of looking forward to seeing the Pats get waxed by Baltimore, but this works, too. Two weeks of ignominy--a loss to the Dolphins that knocked them out of a first-round bye, and then a dismal performance against the Titans!

I generally wouldn't want a team from Hillybilly Land to win, but if the Trumps lose, I'm willing to make an exception. Oh, the bitter tears of Patriot fans! (It's even money whether or not Trump will tweet about Tom Brady being a "loser.")

Yes, I was delighted.

It looks like there is a good chance Shady Brady will not be with the Patriots next season.

Poor old DonDiego lodges an objection to associating the name "Trump" with the loathsome New England Patriots, . . . but he joins Kevin Lewis and Mark in celebration over the loss.

And DonDiego is all atingle that the Tennessee Titans [formerly the Houston Oilers] accomplished the upset.  Poor old DonDiego will soon be a resident of the Greater Nashville metropolis.

DonDiego also suggests that "Hillybilly Land" is hardly applicable to the Greater Metropolitan Area of Nashville, TN.

From dictionary.com :

hillbilly 1. a term used to refer to a person from a backwoods or other remote area, especially the mountains of the southern U.S.

"Nashville is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Tennessee. The city is the county seat of Davidson County and is located on the Cumberland River. The city's population ranks 24th in the U.S.

Named for Francis Nash, a general of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War, the city was founded in 1779. The city grew quickly due to its strategic location as a port on the Cumberland River and, in the 19th century, a railroad center. Nashville seceded with Tennessee during the American Civil War; in 1862 it was the first state capital in the Confederacy to fall to Union troops. After the war, the city reclaimed its position and developed a manufacturing base.

Nashville is a center for the music, healthcare, publishing, private prison, banking, and transportation industries. It is home to numerous colleges and universities, such as Tennessee State University, Vanderbilt University, Belmont University, Fisk University, Trevecca Nazarene University, and Lipscomb University.] Entities with headquarters in the city include Asurion, Bridgestone Americas, Captain D's,] CoreCivic, Dollar General, Hospital Corporation of America, LifeWay Christian Resources, Logan's Roadhouse, and Ryman Hospitality Properties."

Looks like someone besides the Patriots might have a chance at the NFC East for the first time in years.   Maybe the Bills can be worth watching again.

Drove through Nashville around Thanksgiving.  Traffic gets pretty nasty at rush hour - I think the city is growing faster than the infrastructure can keep up with.

Definitely a fun and walkable downtown.

Hattie B's Hot Chicken is worth the hype and the wait.  I also enjoyed Andrew Jackson's estate at Hermitage where they did a better job of explaining the Battle of New Orleans than the museum in New Orleans  =)

I agree, Nashville is a fun town. Great music and food. Hot chicken, barbecue, catfish, eat yourself into a coma. Come to to the sound of jazz.

There are many cities in the US, particularly in the Midwest and South, that are much, much nicer places than the rest of the states they are in. Often, they are liberal islands in a fetid, stinking sea of conservatism. For instance, Oklahoma City and Des Moines are nice places; Oklahoma and Iowa in general are not. Atlanta is a modern, vibrant city; the rest of Gahwgia is still fighting (and losing) the Civil War.

I've been to the Hermitage Museum too. Like with many pseudo-historical sites in the South, Jackson's hero status is played up and his role as a genocidal racist is barely mentioned. Ask the Cherokee Nation if they think he belongs on the $20 bill.

Of course, the cosmic joke about the Battle of New Orleans is that a peace treaty had been signed three weeks ago. If only Andrew Jackson had had access to Fox News back then...

For poor old DonDiego's edification:

The Patriots are AMURRICA'S team!!

Kevin Lewis writes: "The Patriots are AMURRICA'S team!!".

DonDiego suggests it is unlikely that a team, which is in fact the  "most hated" team in America is, in fact, "America's Team".

n.b. Poor old DonDiego recognizes the map is a year old, but hatred is a persistent emotion.

No, not America's team: AMURRICA's team.

Amurrica (sometimes also known as 'Murrica) is the gun-loving, nonwhite-people-hating, monster truck rally-going and (often) MAGA-hat-wearing subculture of America.

One of their signature conceits is saying that they ARE America, which they try to express by pasting the flag on everything, including pickup trucks and toilet seats.

The last 20 YEARS have been really tough on Der Fuhrer and the rest of the haters out there.

Kevin Lewis claims:  "The Patriots are AMURRICA'S team!!"

He then clariifies that  AMURRICA. comprises gun-loving, nonwhite-people hating, monster truck rally-going and (often) MAGA-hat-wearing subculture of America.

Poor old DonDiego was unaware of the composition of those who comprise the AMURRICA which claims the New England Patriots as "their team".

Oh and poor old DonDiego thanks Kevin Lewis for the warning  about the residents of Massachusetts; they have altered their behavior significantly since the last time poor old DonDiego visited the  "Bay State".
