New Year's Resolutions

It's that time of year! When we regain consciousness just in time to watch the Rose Bowl and pop eight Ibuprofen to deal with our hangovers. We then say, "Well, I'll never do THAT again!" with only a hazy recollection of why we passed out in the garage wearing only a propeller beanie and a frilly negligee.

So...

What are you going to do in 2026 that you haven't done before...or adequately or properly?

What are you going to stop doing in 2026 (once and for all)?

Lots of travel this year.

Im hoarding cash.   Im in my final sprint towards retiring.     Sooner the better.

So you're gonna be frugal in 2026...do you have specific plans/goals after that? Any places you wanna go?

I would normally be retired now, but I found it kind of boring, so I re-upped my teaching license. But the big difference is that now I work because and when I want to, not because I have to.

Eat less.

I'm gaining.  Right now just about 5 lbs over my ideal.

I'm getting older and weight is harder to keep off.

It finally dawned on me that I don't HAVE to eat everything on my plate.

My grandmother encouraged me to "be a member of the clean plate club."  Fine for a growing kid.  Not for a senior approaching the 80s (2027).

Even if I serve myself at home, I will 'listen' to the whatever it is that tells ya you've had enough.  I love food, but 4-5 good bites of most servings is enough to get the enjoyment and nutrition.

Candy

My wife asked me if I was making any new year resolutions.   I don't plan to, but do have some goals I would like to achieve by next winter.   Would like to lose 25 pounds, and 2 pounds a month is doable.  The other goal is to get in good shape to fully run a 10k.  I jog around the neighborhood for 45 minutes to an hour, but it does consist of a decent amount of walking.  Riverside has the Mission Inn Run, in November, where people can run 5k,10k, or half marathon.  There are a few 5k races in the fall in the area I can try to prepare for the 10k.  Just gonna take time, effort, and perseverance, but doable.
