New York Wakes Up Under Socialism after Mamdani Sworn In

Socialism at work

NYC in its has wisdom has mandated the only acceptable garbage can  is one sold by the city.  The only problem there are any garbage cans.

"Every building with between one and nine units will have to use the official “NYC Bin” when they put out their trash by this summer or else face a fine, but residents are having difficulty finding them for purchase as the city government blames an outside vendor for the issues. The Sanitation Department warns on its own website: “Online ordering and the call center are currently unavailable. Select NYC Bins are available at all NYC Home Depot locations.”

The city blamed the vendor that makes the bins, saying “ongoing issues with the outside vendor that makes and delivers the bins failing to fulfill some orders.” Frustrated New Yorkers should email the manufacturer, Otto Environmental Systems, directly for refunds, the city said."

Tom, your mommy has always taken care of the garbage for you, so you may not know that most cities insist on one standard garbage can type and size to make trash pickup faster and easier.

Do you scream SOOOOCIALISM when your toast is burnt?

More effects of the Mamdani election is the report that the NYSE is pulling up stakes and moving operations to Texas. The big money, companies, and businesses seemingly cannot get out of New York fast enough. Makes one wonder just how New York is going to fund the projected and promised changes - this soon to be recognized fiasco will be felt for years. The absurdity of those who voted for this insanity is astounding.

But only NYC requires that people buy their garbagage cans from them

If the bins are available at Home Depot, then the purchasing agent for NYC should run down there and pick up a bunch of them for the city services customers, or accept their receipt if they purchased a bin, by repaying them for the bin, or offering credit to city services.

We have to use the various colored bins here in Riverside and they are provided......and if they get damaged, they are replaced by the city.   I understand that NYC is much bigger than Riverside, which translates to a much larger sanitation department, so having the same bins makes it more efficient to pick up the bins with the trucks that they have, as Kevin posted. Larger cities just don't have the resources to have two or three man crews that jump off trucks and grab the old school silver trash cans off the street or sidewalk anymore.

It also looks like NYC should get a new vendor for their trash bins.

Home Depot doesn't have them either.

As usual NYC screws up.

I won't be surprised when the city starts issuing fines to people for not buying the cans which are unavailable for purchase.

This latest "decree" is just the tip of the iceberg

This just seems like a big clusterf@ck.   City services dropping the ball and the citizens are the ones paying the price.....quite literally.

That's nothing unique to NyC.    The entire Indianapolis metro area requires you to use specific bins for garbage pickup.    The garbage trucks are designed specifically to pick up those bins.   That's the reason.   It has nothing to do with the ".ism" you associate with the local government.

but thanks for the daily chapter of desperate political gripes.

the federal government is shooting unarmed US citizens .... and threatening to invade Greenland.    I'm going out on a limb and say that's a bigger problem than garbage can shortages in NYc.
