Newsom signs $2.8B bailout for healthcare program overrun by illegal immigrants

Buying votes is expensive people. Time to raise the taxes in Cali again. --- Liberal Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a $2.8 billion bailout Monday to close the state's bloated deficit in California's Medicaid program, which surpassed projections due to the program's expansion last year to include illegal immigrants. -- The move, confirmed by Newsom's office to Fox News Digital Monday afternoon, comes after the Democratic governor asked lawmakers last month for a $3.4 billion loan from the state's general fund to cover some $6.2 billion in outstanding costs for Medi-Cal, one of the state's primary healthcare programs that takes both federal and state taxpayer dollars. The additional funds will help keep the program running through June for some 15 million Californians, including noncitizens. -- According to state data, roughly 1.6 million illegal immigrants are currently enrolled in Medi-Cal, part of the program’s total 15 million enrollees. The state had initially projected the expansion would cost just under $6 billion for fiscal year 2024–2025. But just one year in, the costs have surged far past that estimate. -- https://www.foxnews.com/politics/newsom-signs-2-8b-bailout-healthcare-program-overrun-illegal-immigrants

Remember when kevin said illegals don't cost any money

Kevin, how much is the current budget deficit in California?  Since Kevin won't know and believes that borrowing money is free...since he pays no taxes.  California will borrow $12,000 this year for every resident including illegals.  About $25,000 for every tax payer.

California has amongst the highest income per capita.

So you can live in a high tax state like California  with high paying jobs and good healthcare, education and  quality of life ...

Or you can live in a low tax state like Mississippi with shitty jobs, healthcare, education and max out the misery index

Nice to have choices.    Useless shitkickers with no skills have their states and educated, productive members of society have theirs.   Aint Ameirca great?

Let them borrow themselves into oblivion.  My great great grandfather was city manager of Bakersfield when the state was great and sensible.  He and my grandmother both graduated from Stanford when it was sensible.

Racist

California's income gets skewed  because they have 1.15 million millionaires or 8.5% of the population which is the highest in the nation.

19% of the state ibelow or just above the poverty line.

Depending on the survey Ca is in top 5 highest costs of living. For living in California comfortably, U.S. News & World Report’s Affordability Rankings, place the Golden State as the least-affordable state.

This makes people in the lower middle class essentially poor as they have to deal with these higher costs   For example the national price for gas is $3.22 but in Ca it is $4.90

The Bureau of Economic Analysis estimates that California’s average annual nonrestaurant food cost per person is $4,708. That equates to $392 per person, per month. The average family of four could end up spending $1,568 per month on groceries.

Interesting stats on that last comment.  But makes sense. I ended up going back and looking at our costs,  since I do most of the shopping.  We are a family of three and spent about $900 per month on groceries between Costco,  Walmart and our local Ralph's market.

Live in California all my life.We brought a house in 1969 when prices doable.Even with a healthy retirement I don't think Icould afford to live here. I am a food bargain hunter.Today rib eye steak on sale $7. Per pound. When I come to Las Vegas that steak cost $80.i don't have statistics on who is legal or not legal.Should we be

talking about Latinos? The ones here in San Francisco seem to be service workers. Our bigger problem it seems to me is the homeless. I think our new Mayor is trying to clean up.
