There's data to back that up. Of the top nine most visited US cities according to Conde Nast Traveler, ALL of them are blue. And six out of nine are located in blue states or DC.
I think that's because Democrats believe in the "promote the general Welfare" line from the preamble of the US Constitution, and Republicans not so much. It makes for much better surroundings and common areas. A longer lifespan too, but that's another subject.
