Off to Vegas, Again

Texas has an ostensible lower cost of about 3%, but that ignores the fact that incomes in Oregon are about 4% higher than those in Texas. So for the same job and the same living situation, you come out a little bit ahead in Oregon.

Kevin lies again

The overall cost of living in Portland is 27.7% higher than the national average, and 11.7% higher than the rest of the state. In Portland, the cost of healthcare is lower compared to other parts of the state and the US.

Texas is a lot lower

In Texas, the cost of living is 7.9% lower than it is on average nationwide, according to the Composite Cost of Living Index published by the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center. Overall, the cost of living in Texas ranks as the 15th lowest among states.

For this privilege portland residents have an excellent chance of being a crime victim.

Some things to do in Texas, such as the 16 national parks.

Plus 12 major league sports teams and the annual SXSW attended by over 200,000 people to name a few things.

Annual tourism in Texas is $91b vs only $14b in oregon

Not as good as Oregon, that's for sure.  Oregon is in the top half of the nation, Texas is around 38th depending on which list you look at.

Stupid Tom's "statistics" are bogus, just like all the other stuff he pulls out of his ass.

Hey, stupid Tom, can you give us a list of Texas's "16 national parks"?

What a fucking idiot.

Take a look at the per capita education spending if you really want a Texas horror show. They think that if you give little Tommy a gun and a cowboy hat and teach him how to use both, he's good to go.

Checking back in.  Looks like a close race.  A lot of good points.

Kevin, Mark, Max and MP for Portland

Jerry, Tom, David and Brent for Texas.

4-4

More urged to vote and let's not make it poltical.  Small sample but of course this probably covers more than half of this forum's followers.  :)

Do you know why the average Texan dies four years earlier than the average Oregonian? Because they want to.

The kind of people whose defective personalties, tastes, and morals make them actually prefer Texas...should live in Texas. Yee-haw!

Seriously, if you think nonwhite people, gays and transgender people should be treated as human beings--live in Portland. If you think they should be hunted down and killed, live in Texas.

If you like trees and water, live in Portland. If you like dirt and rocks, live in Texas.

If you like to be around good and nice people, live in Portland. If you like drunk people with guns, live in Texas.

If you like health care, live in Portland. If you get your health care from a whiskey bottle, live in Texas.

If you like breathable air, live in Portland. If you want to breathe exhaust fumes and cattle farts, live in Texas.

Everybody has a choice!

I thought it was Texans' greater likelihood of getting shot after bumping into someone and not immediately saying, "Excuse me, podner."

I think it's interesting, that the Portland folks talk about the quality of life, mostly outdoor recreation, while the Texas folks are all about the cost of living. Do the Texas folks don't understand that in Oregon they may earn more with the right skills? I'm living well in Colorado.

Republicans used to always say if you don't have enough money, then improve your skills instead of complaining, those folks are RINOs now.

I also find it interesting that David and Brent like the lower cost of living so they can vacation in "blue states", funny.
