The question now is what constitutes an official act. Counsel for Trump's prosecution argued that his incitement of the Jan. 6 insurrection was an act done for personal gain, not anything done in an official capacity, That is of the course the reality--Trump acted to benefit himself, not the country.
But the most significant effect is to delay Trump's trial until after the election, which of course is all his shadesters wanted. Then he fantasizes that he can pardon himself, or appoint an AG to blow up the case.
