It's not Oklahoma City. It's Stillwater, OK. Home to Oklahoma State University. One reported case of use of a firearm by a mask hater, more cases of threats and verbal abuse directed at the store clerks who tried to enforce the mask ordinance. My wife and I wear masks, to lessen the odds of getting the virus. Some of the mask protesters have also attacked people wearing masks.
If the anti-mask people don't want to wear a mask, that's their business and they'll have to suffer the consequence of getting the virus and passing it on to their families and friends. Not smart on their part. Any one else choosing to wear a mask?
You don't wear a mask to protect yourself from the virus. Depending on its composition, it does a moderate to poor job of keeping the virus away.
The reason to wear a mask is to protect others. If you are carrying the virus, it will be expelled from your nose and mouth, and a mask will partially stop that. If you cough or sneeze, there will be much less dispersal.
So the primary reason to wear a mask is out of consideration for the safety of others. Anyone who refuses to wear a mask, saying "It's my risk to take," has it exactly wrong.
