On the Green New Deal

For the record, I have never posted any comments about universal health care. Mark, get your facts straight about what I do and don't say. By the way, how much do you enjoy your ever escalating Obeymecare health insurance payments, you know, the ones that pay for all of the freeloaders and illegals health care?

As I stated many times before, there are a lot of features I don't like about Obamacare.  The best that can be said about it is that it is better than what we had before and it is better than the more expensive replacement plans Republicans voted on.  It is not so much the premiums that are the problem. It is the out of pocket costs. It is $15,800 for a family plan in 2019 as set by the Trump administration.

" Mark says----It is not so much the premiums that are the problem. It is the out of pocket costs. It is $15,800 for a family plan in 2019 as set by the Trump administration." ----Let's see, The Obeyme Administration passed Obeymecare and now it is the Trump Administration that is at fault for the out-of-pocket costs. This makes sense only to a misguided liberal....

Yes, the Trump administration has done everything it could to drive up the costs of Obamacare because Trump is a toddler like individual that throws tantrums whenever he doesn't get his way.  He attacks John McCain's ghost for the same reason.

Medicare-For-All . . . And Mexico will pay for it!

The authors of the study that mark quotes have said that the liberals have misinterpreted the study.

obama said Obamacare would reduce premiums by $2,000.  It never did while he was president, not sure how Trump caused that.

He is not. However, is to blame for campaigning on replacing Obamacare on day one with a plan that would cover everybody at a lower cost to the patient and the government and then after months of trying only coming up with plans that cost the government and the patients more and left an additional 30 million uninsured. Now he does his best to sabotage and drive up costs that everybody in the current system pays because he is an angry toddler that promised something and couldn't deliver.

And nobody, period, will be able to cobble together something that folks envision: free or low cost health care for all.  Hillary tried, Obama tried, Trump thought he could do it.  They all found out why this is an impossible dream.   FDR didn't live to see how his welfare program was a nice humanitarian idea that would skyrocket out of control.  Greedy politicians of every ilk seized on it to further their careers, and it fit right in with our historically sympathetic world view.  Even Abraham Lincoln's "care for the veteran, and his widow, and their children" would come to be abused by those who learn to scam the system.  But I digress.

Candy said, " They all found out why this is an impossible dream."

That is just it.  It isn't. We know it isn't because of every other first world country in the world does it and they do it at a lower (sometimes much lower) cost than our cobbled together system does.

The only reason we can't achieve it is corruption. If every time you look at the problem you start off with the premise that insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies, hospital holding companies and pharmacy benefits managers not only have to be guaranteed their current slice of revenue but still be allowed to grow their profits 10% year after year you will never have a functioning system.

Insurance companies don't even need to be part of the equation anymore as their products are in complete market failure.  They are only sustainable through ever-increasing government subsidies. Actuarially speaking the numbers just don't work anymore.  Only about 20% of the population can afford to buy a market-based policy.
